Smart Berries have a number of horticulture roles available across our berry farms and packing sheds located in Mundubbera QLD, Perseverance Dam QLD and Forth TAS.
Production Horticulture Supervisor
We are looking for Production Horticulture Supervisors to join our farming teams. The key responsibilities are:
Work with the Farm Managers to ensure all operations are efficiently and successfully carried out to horticultural standards.
Organise and manage work programs including irrigation, soil monitoring and pest programs.
Assist in farm operations including but not limited to preparing and managing harvest, weed control, tractor operations and ground works, manage irrigation control and fertiliser systems, identify and report pests, and chemical application.
Supervise farm labour, including directly employed, contract and seasonal workforces.
Salary range: $73,000 to $90,000
About you
We're looking for candidates who share our values and passion to contribute to the success of our berry farming operations. To be successful you will have the following skills and experience:
Prior experience managing, leading or supervising on a horticulture farm, including experience in overseeing labour, growing, irrigation, and working to financial outcomes.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop a team.
A strong drive to achieve and a passion for farming.
A background in agronomy, irrigation, or berries will be highly regarded.
Prior experience operating a tractor and other farm machinery will be highly regarded.
Comprehensive knowledge of horticulture practices.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve.
Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Self-motivation and the ability to work both in teams and independently.
