Safety & Health Officer

Occupational Safety & Health 

• Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and programs
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations such as DOSH, DOE, Majlis Bandaraya, Bomba (Fire Certification approval) 
• Conduct regular risk managements and safety inspection and develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedure 
• Identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks and implement corrective actions and safety improvements 
• Conduct Occupational Safety and Health committee (OSHC) meeting and represents the safety and health concerns, HIRARC, and Emergency Response Team (ERT) and conduct regular emergency drills and training
• Prepare reports of occupational risk assessment, and operating procedures, and identify safety and health hazards.
• Monitor and conduct action plan of the Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA)
• Monitor and conduct action plan for the Noise Risk assessment
• Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, and near-misses
• Prepare detailed reports on incidents, including root cause analysis and recommendations
• Maintain records of incidents and ensure accurate reporting to regulatory agencies
• Address occupational health issues and implement measures to reduce workplace-related illnesses
• Familiar with MyKKP online system for Jabatan keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan (DOSH)
• Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health
• Ensure that all Safety and Health policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated, and communicated
• Organize and manage the Health and Safety Committee meetings including taking distribution of minutes.
• Assist and report occupational safety and health risk assessment, operating procedures, and identify safety and health hazards
• Ensure the company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety, and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting
• Ensure full and accurate health and safety training records are maintained
• Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements implemented
• Monitor the action plan of the Chemical Health Risk Assessment (CHRA)
• Monitor the action plan for the Noise Risk assessment
• Monitor and ensure proper management of the scheduled wastes under the environmental quality act by DOE (Jabatan Alam Sekitar)
• Monitor and control mitigating and preventing the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace

Training

• Training and Education Design and deliver safety training programs for employees
• Collaborate with management, supervisors, and employees to promote a culture of safety
• Promote safety awareness through workshops, seminars, and informational materials

Audits

• Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
• Prepare for and coordinate external audits and inspections
• Ensure that all safety equipment is regularly inspected and maintained
• Encourage employees to provide feedback and suggestions for improving workplace safety
• Stay updated on new regulations, technologies, and best practices in health and safety

Environmental Management

• Monitor and ensure proper management of the scheduled wastes under the environmental quality act by DOE (Jabatan Alam Sekitar)
• Liaise with external service providers on the collection of the schedule waste
• Familiar with eSWIS online system for schedule waste monitoring
• Knowledge in Environmental Management System in adherence with ISO 14001
• Perform environmental inspections

Additional task

• Prepare and update Work Instruction (SOP) and control document operation activities
• Prepare and implement Quality Plan & flow chart for new inspection products
• Perform product performance tests for R&D and certified products
• Perform product test samples from new or existing vendors
• Involved and implement Epicor system and Warehouse Management System (WMS) system
• Involved and implement Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) system
• Involved and implement Material Requirement planning (MRP) system
• Conduct SIRIM audit/ ISO Management system audit etc

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in occupational health & safety or a related field.
• Must be Green Book holder
• At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing, production, moulding, and similar related fields
• Possess leadership qualities and able to work closely and supervise a team of local and foreign employees in carrying out their daily job responsibilities.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Fast learner and willing to learn
• Able to work in fast-paced environment and under pressure
• Must be willing to work overtime (weekdays & Saturdays, Sundays Off)
• Knowledge in ISO9001
