What to expect:
- Primary clinical work within the VRH ECC department.
- ~75%-evening and night shifts, 25%-day shifts.
- 1:2 weekends.
- No expectation for sole charge.
- Training in Related Disciplines:
- 2-week rotations in each of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Anaesthesia and Diagnostic Imaging (available for candidates in an 18-month program only).
- 4 weeks annual leave per calendar year.
- 1 week study leave.
- Access to Greencross EAP and support services.
Your training and development will include:
- Weekly ECC induction modules over first 12 weeks (in association with VRH rotating interns).
- Weekly intern rounds / topic reviews / MMR / Assignments.
- Interns are expected to present a case study / literature review approximately once every 10 - 12 weeks.
- RECOVER accreditation.
- Participation in Wet Pracs for development of technical and surgical skills.
- Publications and presentations. A clinical mentor will be provided to assist the intern in production of at least one of the following:
- One scientific journal article: a case report, case series, or retrospective paper.
- One 30 – 60minute presentation at either Gxl Symposium or Science Week.
- Written and oral exam at the completion of 18 months, designed as a mock MANZCVS style assessment.
- Upon successful completion of the program a veterinary associate position in ECC may be offered within either the VRH team, or at another Victorian Greencross site (depending on business needs).
