Principal Level Category Manager - Based Worsley
This global mining company has a newly created role for a Principal Category Manager to be based at their facility in South West WA.
The purpose of this role is to provide expert advice and execute Category Management activities in line with category and sourcing plans to increase productivity, lower costs, manage risks and unlock organisational value safely and sustainably.
You will be responsible for key operational categories that include heavy mobile equipment, fixed plant, fuel, explosives, logistics, tyres and freight (although the portfolio may well extend beyond this).
Specific accountabilities
Deliver a set of strategies on how the organisation procures key categories in the most optimal way in terms of quality, cost, and speed to market to achieve industry-leading performance.
Be accountable for the full contracting process from initiation through to implementation.
Actively mitigate risk in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders.
Where needed, run market tenders and/or negotiations to further reduce spend.
Track and report on planned and validate achieved savings targets
Identify and manage relationships with key suppliers, evaluate performance on a regular basis to ensure that we are getting value for money and supplier performance is in line with expectations
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure procurement is supporting them to deliver against their business plans.
Qualifications
Extensive business experience, working in a commercial / supply environment
Experience in strategic sourcing and/or category management
Strong Business Acumen and analytical skills
Strong organisation, time, and project management skills
Microsoft Suite Competency: Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
You will be rewarded with a base salary in the region of $170k + 20% bonus + relocation ++
Please note this role is available as a residential role only in a beautiful part of Western Australia and not Drive in Drive out. The organisation will assist with temporary accommodation and relocation costs.
