They are seeking a diligent and dynamic Fruit Farm Worker for our establishment located in Garradunga, Far North QLD. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, comfortable with indoor as well as outdoor work, have a keen eye for detail and maintain a high level of professionalism.
The Role
The position is a full-time basis with an annual salary set between $66,000 to $70,000, depending on experience including superannuation.
Responsibilities
Planting, pruning and irrigating fruits on the farm.
Applying fertilisers and pesticides to ensure the health and growth of fruits.
Monitoring fruit growth and assessing health issues like pest infestations or diseases.
Cleaning and sorting bananas based on quality and size.
Packing bananas in crates or boxes for shipment.
Conducting regular quality controls to ensure the fruits meet set standards.
Assisting in the development and implementation of farm safety and sanitation standards
Operating farm machines to cultivate, fertilise, spray, and harvest
Spraying trees, vines, and other plants with chemicals to control weed growth, insects, fungus growth, and diseases
Thinning, weeding, and hoeing row crops, and pruning trees and vines
Irrigating land for crop growth
Selecting and picking fruit according to size and ripeness, and discarding rotting and over-ripened produce
Requirements
At least a Certificate 2 or higher in Horticulture
A minimum of 1 year experience in the agricultural sector is required.
A minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a banana farm is required.
At least 1 year proficiency in operating and maintaining farm machinery such as tractors, cultivators, and harvesters
At least 1 years knowledge of chemical application techniques for pest and disease control, including proper handling and safety procedures
At least 1 years expertise in irrigation system management and maintenance to ensure efficient water usage for crop growth
Must be physically fit as job requires performing physically demanding tasks.
