The National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) is Australia's independent expert regulator for health and safety, structural integrity, well integrity and environmental management for all offshore energy operations and greenhouse gas storage activities in Commonwealth waters, and in coastal waters where regulatory powers and functions have been conferred.

NOPSEMA also administers the functions of the Offshore Infrastructure Regulator (OIR), for the offshore renewables industry. This includes the regulation of work health and safety, infrastructure integrity, and environmental management for offshore renewable energy infrastructure activities.

NOPSEMA is immediately recruiting experienced petroleum industry professionals into Well Integrity Engineer positions with extensive knowledge of the well integrity lifecycle to join our well integrity team within Regulatory Operations Division in our Perth and Melbourne Offices.

About the role:

The Well Integrity Engineer will be providing technical assistance in the assessment of well operation management plans and inspection of offshore operations and will support the team in investigating accidents and incidents. You will assist in the development and maintenance of procedures, guidelines and standards relating to the regulation and management of risk from wells and well activities.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

• Technical assistance in assessment of well related statutory submissions and review of associated technical documents.
• Technical assistance in onshore and offshore inspections of titleholders’ management of wells and well activities with regard to compliance with relevant legislation as described in the accepted WOMP.
• Supporting NOPSEMA investigations of accidents, incidents and complaints in respect of well operations and well integrity management.
• Processing and tracking of Well Activity and Incident Notifications.
• Participation in well integrity and cross divisional project centric regulatory activities.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of NOPSEMA procedures, guidelines and standards relating to the regulation and management of risk from wells and well activities.
• Maintain and adhere to NOPSEMA core regulatory processes, particularly:
• Regulatory compliance;
• Reporting and analysis; and
• Industry and stakeholder relationship management.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

• Demonstrated experience in a well engineering environment encompassing planning, design, construction, operation and management of wells and well control.
• Knowledge of drilling, completions & well interventions and / or petroleum, production engineering and sub-surface disciplines.
• Proven ability to identify, analyse and diagnose problems in a logical and rational manner, and to demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving.
• Experience with API and coding is desirable.
