We are currently seeking a dedicated Maintenance Technicians/Fitters to join our team.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
• Conducting preventative maintenance on plant and equipment, adhering to manufacturer recommendations to ensure safety, product quality, and production efficiency.
• Resolving operational or technical equipment problems to minimize processing/manufacturing interruptions resulting from equipment breakdowns/failures.
• Upholding our commitment to the Zero Harm philosophy by ensuring all work complies with safety standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Preventative Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on plant and equipment, following manufacturer’s guidelines to maintain safety, quality, and production.
• Troubleshooting: Quickly address and resolve equipment issues to reduce downtime and maintain production flow.
• Team Collaboration: Work as part of the Mechanical Maintenance team, contributing to a positive environment and supporting apprentice training and development.
• Daily Reporting: Provide feedback and reports on work progress, identifying delays and suggesting improvements.
• Emergency Response: Respond to after-hours breakdowns as needed, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
• Fabrication and Assembly: Fit and assemble metal parts and subassemblies using precision tools.
• Machining Operations: Operate cutting, grinding, and drilling tools to form metal stock and castings to fine tolerances.
• Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems: Cut, thread, bend, and install hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
• Safety Compliance: Participate in Safety Tool Box Meetings and maintain a safe workplace.
Qualifications:
• Completed trade certification or relevant experience.
• 3 - 5 years of maintenance experience in a similar environment.
• Knowledge and experience in safety procedures.
• Computer literacy.
• Desirable: Pneumatic-hydraulic training and ability to read schematics.
• Senior First Aid Certificate (St. John's).
Skills and Experience:
• Experience with plant equipment such as conveyors, saws, compressors, pumps, and refrigeration equipment.
• Proficient in oxy acetylene gas, MIG/TIG welding repairs with stainless steel.
• Familiarity with HCCF, GMP, ISO 9001:2008, and SQF 2000-level 3 standards.
• Competence in maintenance planning and continuous improvement techniques.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Effective time management and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
