Our client, Two Little Monkeys Cafe, is located in the heart of Beaumaris, Victoria. They are passionate about great food and coffee that their customers love. They source their food locally where possible and have worked hard to maintain strong relationships with small suppliers for anything they need to be brought in. They are currently looking for an experienced Chef to join their team.

The Role:
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a truly dynamic team with the chance to display their creativity in the dishes that they create. They will not only be able to hone their cooking skills and techniques, but they will also have the freedom to express themselves in the dishes they create.

This is for a full-time role with an annual salary of $73,500 plus superannuation.

Duties will include:
• Planning, directing, and supervising the food preparation and cooking activities.
• Determining how food should be presented, and creating decorative food displays.
• Determining production schedules & staff requirements necessary to ensure delivery of services.
• Estimating amounts and costs of required supplies, such as food and ingredients.
• Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards.
• Instructing cooks and other workers in the preparation, cooking, garnishing & presentation of food.
• Monitoring sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations.
• Ordering or requisitioning food and other supplies needed to ensure efficient operation.
• Analysing recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labour, and overhead costs.
• Arranging for equipment purchases and repairs.
• Meeting with sales representatives to negotiate prices and order supplies.
• Preparing and cooking food of all types, either on a regular basis or for special guests or functions.
• Supervising and coordinating activities of cooks and workers engaged in food preparation.
• Collaborating with other personnel to plan and develop recipes and menus, considering such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients and the likely number of customers.
• Checking the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
• Checking the quantity and quality of received products.
• Demonstrating new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
• Recording production and operational data on specified forms.

Qualifications:
• At least Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience as a Chef.
• Experience and knowledge of modern Australian cuisine are essential.
• Must be able to work with proteins like pork, beef, and seafood.
• Must know how to prepare meals to dietary requirements.
• Experience in kitchen operations and in managing a team.
• Australian citizens and permanent residents are preferred.
