Play a key role in the implementation of Council’s Live Green Plan in relation to sustainability engagement, learning and action.
What you’ll be doing:
- Coordinate and facilitate the ongoing implementation of staff and community sustainability engagement and behaviour change programs.
- Provide professional advice and information to Council and the community on sustainability related issues.
- Coordinate the effective communication of sustainability information and behaviour change across Council and with the community.
- Develop and maintain relationships with the community to encourage active participation in sustainability related programs and activities.
- Support community initiated sustainability action and sustainability related groups.
- Lead, coordinate and facilitate environmental engagement programs for the Hume community and within Council and integrate environmental engagement and behaviour change within other Council programs.
- Lead the implementation, monitoring, review, evaluation and reporting of Council’s Live Green Plan including the Live Green community workshop program.
- Lead and coordinate the Green Team which leads staff behaviour change and.
- Initiate and support community environmental initiatives and projects.
- Maintain knowledge of best practice community behaviour change and evaluation techniques.
- Lead sustainability behaviour change in Hume both internally and externally.
The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental education, sustainability, community engagement, behaviour change, communications, community development, education, environmental science, environmental management or a related field or through lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating sustainability engagement and behaviour change programs; experience working with a culturally and linguistically diverse community would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office suite and experience in Internet and desktop publishing would be an advantage.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitation, presentation, influencing and motivating skills.
- Capacity to supervise staff.
- A current Driver’s Licence.
