Play a key role in the implementation of Council’s Live Green Plan in relation to sustainability engagement, learning and action.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the ongoing implementation of staff and community sustainability engagement and behaviour change programs.
  • Provide professional advice and information to Council and the community on sustainability related issues.
  • Coordinate the effective communication of sustainability information and behaviour change across Council and with the community.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the community to encourage active participation in sustainability related programs and activities.
  • Support community initiated sustainability action and sustainability related groups.
  • Lead, coordinate and facilitate environmental engagement programs for the Hume community and within Council and integrate environmental engagement and behaviour change within other Council programs.
  • Lead the implementation, monitoring, review, evaluation and reporting of Council’s Live Green Plan including the Live Green community workshop program.
  • Lead and coordinate the Green Team which leads staff behaviour change and.
  • Initiate and support community environmental initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain knowledge of best practice community behaviour change and evaluation techniques.
  • Lead sustainability behaviour change in Hume both internally and externally.

The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental education, sustainability, community engagement, behaviour change, communications, community development, education, environmental science, environmental management or a related field or through lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and evaluating sustainability engagement and behaviour change programs; experience working with a culturally and linguistically diverse community would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Office suite and experience in Internet and desktop publishing would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitation, presentation, influencing and motivating skills.
  • Capacity to supervise staff.
  • A current Driver’s Licence.
