Accelerated Concrete Sawing service the Commercial and Industrial Construction and Maintenance Industries in and around Melbourne Metropolitan Area. As the only Concrete Sawing Company in Melbourne that also holds an Unlimited Demolition license, we have capacity to work on high level projects.
Role
We are seeking a Formwork Carpenter to join our dynamic team. The role will provide you with an opportunity to work on large projects with a range of clients. We have state of the art equipment to ensure you can work efficiently and effectively.
The role requires you to:
• Read and Interpreting Blueprints/Plans: Understanding detailed drawings and specifications to determine the shape, size, and arrangement of formwork.
• Setting Up Formwork: Assembling and erecting the formwork structures that will contain the poured concrete, ensuring they are properly aligned and supported.
• Measuring and Cutting Materials: Using precise measurements to cut and shape timber, metal, or plastic materials to create formwork components.
• Installing Reinforcements: Placing rebar, mesh, or other reinforcement materials within the formwork as per the structural requirements.
• Securing Formwork: Fastening and bracing the formwork to ensure it is stable and capable of holding the weight of the wet concrete.
• Pouring Concrete: Working with concrete finishers to pour and spread the concrete within the formwork, ensuring it fills all spaces without air pockets.
• Removing Formwork: After the concrete has set and cured, dismantling the formwork and preparing it for reuse or disposal.
• Ensuring Safety: Following safety protocols to protect themselves and others on the construction site, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Quality Control: Inspecting the formwork and concrete to ensure it meets the project specifications and quality standards.
• Maintenance and Repair: Performing regular maintenance on formwork and tools to keep them in good working condition, and repairing any damaged components.
• Collaborating with Other Trades: Coordinating with other construction professionals, such as engineers, project managers, and concrete finishers, to ensure the formwork process integrates smoothly with the overall project.
• Adhering to Codes and Standards: Ensuring all work complies with Australian building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
These duties require a combination of technical skill, precision, and physical strength, as well as a keen attention to detail and an understanding of construction principles. Working conditions often involve being outdoors, exposed to various weather conditions, and sometimes working at heights. You must also be familiar with local materials and practices prevalent in the Australian construction industry.
The successful candidate will have:
• At least three years work experience as a form work carpenter
• First Aid and Vertical lift training desirable
• Hold white card
• Sound technical skill
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn
• Attention to detail and strong problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
