Role Description
The Agricultural Consultant- Riverina Citrus is Full-Time position that is responsible for overseeing and implementing all agronomic plans across the Riverina assets. Working closely with the Head of Production and Head of Cultural Practices, this is a senior leadership position that focuses on advising Farm Managers on the production, processing, and distribution of farm products to drive best practice operations and optimum yield for all Riverina Citrus assets.

Redland Riverina Citrus overview
Redland manages three citrus farms in the Riverina, being:
• Hillston Citrus: a 345 productive-hectare citrus farm located at Hillston NSW, growing mandarin, navel and red-flesh navel varietals ranging from immature to mature trees;
• Kubank Citrus: a 157 productive-hectare citrus farm located at Nericon NSW, growing blood-orange, navel, red-flesh navel and valencia varietals ranging from immature to mature trees; and
• Nericon Citrus: a 468 productive-hectare citrus farm growing lemon, mandarin, navel and red-flesh navel varietals ranging from immature to mature trees.
All farms are being developed to be best-in-class for crop-protection, fertigation and operational-management systems.

Primary responsibilities include:
Agronomy
• Develop, implement, and oversee the crop protection and nutrition plans across the citrus assets targeted towards achieving optimum yield and quality.
• Manage testing and sampling protocols with the agronomy team. Analyse samples to provide insights into optimum nutrition levels and soil health.
• Advise on issues relating to crop disease, control of pests and weeds, soil improvement, and plant nutrition.
• Manage and oversee the pest and disease scouting programs for all key pests and pathogens.
• Study the effects of cultivation techniques, soils, insects, and diseases on production and advise on how to mitigate these issues.
• Study environmental and other factors affecting production and design plans to advise on how to mitigate risk to ensure optimum yield.
• Investigate, plan, and implement management procedures to cope with the effects of fires, floods, droughts, soil erosion, insects, pests, and diseases.
• Utilisation and oversight of the Aerobotics platform to analyse pest data, sizing and maturity.
• Training and education of agronomy team and farm managers to improve knowledge, vigilance and reporting of plant health.
• Optimum irrigation scheduling in conjunction with farm managers and irrigation managers. Utilisation of data driven tools to achieve optimum results and utilisation of resources.

Leadership and People Management
• Mentoring, training, and coaching of farm managers on techniques to provide optimum efficiency of on farm operations to improve production.
• Developing weekly and monthly plans for farm operations to ensure agronomic priorities are upheld.
• Training and reporting structures for agronomic team to ensure effective communication to all stakeholders.
• Clear and concise reporting and communication with Head of Production.
Production and Crop Planning
• Develop crop forecasts for each asset and deliver information in a timely, systematic manner.
• Oversee harvest scheduling with Head of Production, Head of Sales and Pack shed General Manager.
• Management of sizing, crop load and tree performance to ensure sales targets for ideal crop characteristics are met. Intervention early as required to achieve desired outcomes.
• Targeting pruning, nutrition and manipulation to achieve yield and quality targets set out by Head of Production.

Financial oversight and management
• Working with farm managers to adhere to set budgets for agronomic inputs
• Updating and reporting when required on budget variance


Experience & Qualifications
• Bachelor of Applied Science (horticultural, viticulture or agricultural science)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role
• Australian drivers licence
• Management qualifications strongly regarded
