Reporting to the Chief Winemaker, this role would be part of the leadership team and key position in the winery and production teams. With the hands on-role primarily focused in the growing cellar, the winemaker would be charged with continuing the high standard of brand while having a direct input to the development of wine style.
This diverse role will see the winemaker working in and managing a small team, which will encompass all areas of production, bottling and logistics. This will include by not limited to;
• Being hands-on in cellar operations
• Undertaking all lab analysis and stocking
• Leading small teams during harvest
• All aspects of managing the winery procedures
• Co-ordinating with suppliers and managing dry goods
• Overseeing trials and new product development
• Performs general maintenance and sustaining performance of wine equipment
• Attending all bottlings and ensuring industry and export standards
• Liaising and logistical planning of bottling
• Representing the winery when required at various events through the year including weekend and public holiday events
• Undertaking extended hours during harvest, bottling season and at special events
• Oversee waste water management and EPA standards
• Training and education of sales staff
• Assist with warehouse loading, packing and stocktakes
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• A tertiary degree in winemaking
• Multiple vintages work with a wide range of varieties at various facilities
• A high level of attention to detail
• A willingness to take initiative
• Ability to work in small teams as well as often individually
• Ability to work long hour shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Physical ability for strenuous work over sustained hours
• A sense of flexibility and a committed work ethic
• Conforming to company personal policies
• Have legal work rights to undertake permanent full time employment in Australia
• Hold a valid Australia drivers license
• Hold a valid Australia fork lift certification
• Hold a valid Australian working at height certification
• Hold a current First Aid certification
