We are seeking a dynamic, creative and career focused Chef for our Kitchen team.
As a fully qualified Chef, you will report to the Head Chef and be responsible for assisting in the effective operation of the kitchen. To achieve this, you will work collaboratively within a team environment and provide cost-effective measures to maximize food profitability while ensuring food safety standards and total guest satisfaction are met.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manages and directs the cooking of the food as well as any other related activities in the kitchen.
• Prepares, cooks, and serves our guests personally as the private chef.
• discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians and kitchen and waiting staff
• Researches and creates menus based on new or existing culinary creations to guarantee food variety and quality.
• demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
• Approves and check the quality of the dishes before they reach the guests.
• Upholds rules for receiving, storing, and placing stocks orders to control costs
• Plans orders of ingredients or equipment according to identified shortages.
• Makes arrangement for repairs or resolve any issues or defects.
• Records the workload, attendance, and payroll of the kitchen staff.
• Takes full control of supervising and training of new kitchen staff.
• Ensures cleaning procedures are carried out in accordance with company standards.
• Adheres to regulations regarding nutrition, sanitation, and food safety.
To be successful in this role, it is essential you have:
• Previous demonstrated experience working within a busy, high volume kitchen environment
• Commercial Cookery Qualification – Cert III or IV and Diploma in Hospitality Management.
• You are customer service driven and have the capacity to multitask
• Effective communication skills with hotel staff, management, and suppliers
• A passion for locally sourced and seasonal produce
• Computer literate with strong administrative skills
• Flare, enthusiasm, and passion to create quality dishes
• You must be available to work weekends
• Availability 7 days a week including days/nights/weekends/split shifts and public holidays
