Our client, Agro Foods Pty Ltd, is currently seeking a full-time Fitter (General) who may be interested in joining their team for a full-time position, with a minimum of a 2-year contract and the possibility for further extension. The business is located at 41 Sunline Drive, Truganina, Victoria 3029.
Agro Foods has been engaged in the business of exporting agro commodities from Australia to the Indian subcontinent since 2013. Agro Foods predominantly processes legumes, pulses, spices, and grains grown in Australia.
Job Summary:
The role will involve installing and maintaining industrial equipment; working with heavy machinery, such as cranes or forklifts, to assemble and install large pieces of equipment; and reading and interpreting codes, symbols, and schematics to determine proper setup and procedures. The successful applicant will report directly to the Director.
The annual salary will be $80,000 plus superannuation.
Duties:
• Reading blueprints, sketches, diagrams, or other drawings to determine work requirements.
• Assembling and installing new machines and equipment on-site.
• Using cutting and shaping tools to produce parts that will be welded to the equipment or machinery.
• Welding, manipulating, and fitting metal parts to equipment and machinery and replacing parts if required to maintain efficiency.
• Utilising precision measuring tools to ensure the compatibility, clearance, and accuracy of fabricated and assembled metal components.
• Finding solutions to assist in the continuous improvement of respective equipment and machinery.
• Working in collaboration with contractors and other trade professionals for the smooth operation of plant and equipment on-site.
• Displaying proficiency in preventative, reactive, and ongoing maintenance where applicable.
• Diagnosing faults and test-running the machines to detect shortcomings before putting the machine to use.
• Inspecting welds for quality and defects.
• Ensuring the plant complies with environmental and safety standards and rules.
• Following all relevant workplace health and safety guidelines while working on-site.
• Using hand and power tools, including welders, grinders, and drills, safely.
Qualification and Experienced Required:
• Relevant Trade Qualification or AQF Certificate III in Mechanical Trade (Fitter).
• Must have at least two (2) years of full-time experience in a similar position.
Skills Required:
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate the ability to perform physical/manual labouring tasks related to a welder in a safe manner.
• Proficient in using MIG and TIG welders including safety procedures.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to read drawings, work to a time frame, and complete tasks with a high-end finish.
• Eye for detail and quality.
• Be able to read and produce from computer-generated drawings.
