Swickers Kingaroy Bacon Factory Pty Ltd is an export meat processing facility, based in the South Burnett Region and is ideally located just 2 - 3 hours’ drive to Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast. Swickers has been in operation in Kingaroy for over 50 years and today employs approximately 800 employees.
As part of the Sunpork Group, Swickers is a state-of-the-art processing facility specialising solely in the production of fresh pork and distributing it widely across Australia and internationally. Swickers processes 95% of all Queensland’s pork production, including the production of various pork value-add products for consumers worldwide. Swickers is the largest Australian owned pork processor and continues to be a market leader in pork production.
The opportunity
As a member of the Maintenance Team your role will work very closely with the production departments on the facility. Our business aims to process pigs and pork products reliably and efficiently to the highest levels of welfare, quality, and customer satisfaction, with a strong focus on Safety, Quality and People. With an exciting project due for completion soon you will be able to work on state-of-the-art international equipment in our new slaughter floor.
Main duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Ability to act with urgency when machinery fault or breakdown occurs;
• Work in a methodical manner to ensure production runs smoothly using good observation and problem-solving methodologies;
• Ability to identify and solve root causes to prevent further re-occurrences;
• Complete any preventative maintenance tasks given in a timely manner and to a high standard;
• Ensure clear handover of work performed between the maintenance team and production teams so that all safety and food quality standards are well managed;
• Must be able to work flexible hours, be on call and able to work in a rotating roster;
• Hold relevant trade qualification;
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a growing and interdependent team, working collaboratively with other departments;
• Knowledge of WH&S practices and legislation;
• Class C drivers’ licence.
What we’re looking for
Swickers has established an efficient, highly skilled yet diversified team. As a key member you will have:
• Relevant mechanical/fitter trade or diploma qualification;
• Minimum 5 years maintenance fitting experience;
• Class C (unrestricted) drivers’ licence;
• Must be able work shift work and 12-hour rosters. In addition, there may also be occasions where after-hours work is required to repair breakdowns.
This role is on paid on wages (hourly rate) at an average of 48 hours per week. Base salary range $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 plus superannuation per annum.
