Australian Baptist Education (ABE) is a service-based organisation.
ABE provides educational, IT, financial, payroll, human resources and property services to six K-Yr12 Colleges, two Early Learning Centres (ELCs), one Tertiary College and three development companies.
We are seeking a driven person to assist with our organisational growth by taking on a newly established role of Management Accountant and Analyst.
Reporting directly to the Business Manager and working closely with the Senior Accountant, this role would suit a detailed and process-oriented person.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in maintaining internal controls and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures. This might involve participating in audits and implementing recommendations for improving processes;
- Assist and reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain general ledgers including management of relevant general journal entries where required, and prepare month-end close procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting;
- Analyse financial data and trends to provide insights to management. This includes comparing actual performance to budgets and forecasts, identifying variances, and recommending corrective actions;
- Participate in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, working closely with the Business Manager to gather necessary information and ensure accuracy;
- Prepare regular management reports, and other metrics, to help management monitor performance and make informed decisions;
- Assist in analysing costs associated with various building projects;
- Creation and implementation of new accounting systems and suggestions for improvements to the existing systems;
- Undertake creditor entry and payment and review approved and unapproved purchase orders in the system. And enter and process monthly BAS in the ATO Portal, and process payment if required;
- Assist the Business Manager and work with the Senior Accountant on revision of Policies and drafting of updated and/or new Policies;
- Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance;
- Provide staff training on financial applications, where necessary;
You will also have;
- Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), accounting principles, procedures and compliance requirements.
- A strong analytical mind with the ability to problem solve, identify trends and think logically.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing issues.
- High degree of attention to detail.
Overall Requirements;

- To undertake miscellaneous tasks relevant to the position as required from time to time.
- To carry out all duties and functions in a manner that promotes good teamwork and public relations;

- Identify and communicate to management any issues/concerns effecting performance or suggestions, which will improve service quality.
- Willing to participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives.
Must Possess;
- Will need to be enthusiastic and a dedicated Christian, willing to support and uphold the Organisation’s ethos whilst working in a team environment.
- Previous experience as an accounts officer;
- Excellent computer skills, primarily Microsoft Excel;
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping best practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
FTE and Salary;
- Employment will be a full-time role, with flexible working arrangements
- Salary will commence within a range of $83,000-$86,000 per annum (excluding compulsory superannuation and annual leave loading)
