ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is your chance to join the team at the iconic Portsea Hotel as part of Morris Hospitality, located on the Port Phillip Bay coastline of the Mornington Peninsula. Established in 1876, the Portsea Hotel is the perfect place to stay, dine or drink and is the ideal, picturesque venue for social gatherings, dinners, weddings, celebrations and other events/functions. The food offerings at the Portsea Hotel take inspiration from Italian shores and make the best use of fresh, local and seasonal produce with a focus on seafood dishes.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Assistant Venue Manager to help lead the front-of-house team at the Portsea Hotel. In this busy role reporting to the General Manager, you will help to take the lead in our venue to ensure the service we offer guests is above expectations at all times. You will be in charge of a large team of hospitality professionals and will be responsible for meeting role and business expectations.

As Assistant Venue Manager at the Portsea Hotel, your responsibilities will include:

- Leading & managing the front-of-house team
- Assisting with all day-to-day operations of the venue across all service periods
- Developing & implementing superior service standards that consistently exceed guest expectations
- Working with Chefs on menu development & pricing
- Working with the Events team in planning, organising & running a range of weddings, celebrations & other functions
- Stock control & management, including purchasing
- Training, developing & coaching food & beverage staff
- Implementing succession planning programs that focus on staff development & progression
- Helping with financial management, budgeting & cost-control
- Implementing systems, processes, policies & procedures to ensure the smooth running of the venue
- Maintaining venue presentation at all times
- Ensuring the venue is compliant with health regulations & that WHS is a focus for all team members

Full-Time Salary: $70,000-$80,000

ABOUT YOU:

To be considered for this position, you will need to demonstrate the following:

- Hospitality/Management training or qualifications (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar management role
- Hands-on approach with a 'lead-from-the-front' attitude
- Broad experience with food & beverage styles
- Experience in a similar-style venue
- Experience organising & running weddings & other events/functions
- Exceptional written & verbal communication skills
- Approachable & strong customer service skills
- Experience with venue/restaurant management & POS systems
- Flexibility across various work days & hours
- Good presentation
- Driven & results-focused
