Mainstream is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and confident Biological Systems Manager to work collaboratively with the Production, Sales and Research teams to ensure maintenance and continuous improvement of operational procedures.
The systems manager maintains, owns and develops structured systems to ensure quality control on biological production processes; ensuring business activities are safe, efficient and compliant with customer and regulatory quality assurance requirements.
Position:
This full-time role, reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, is suitable for someone who is dedicated, has a strong attention to detail and has the capacity to be dynamic to take on many varied tasks. Graduates and experienced applicants are encouraged to apply.
Selection Criteria:
• A Bachelor of Science, Applied Science, or equivalent qualification supporting the scientific-based responsibilities.
• Minimum of 2-year hands-on commercial experience in aquaculture production systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with proven attention to detail.
• Ability to work collaboratively with others and have a strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility.
• Demonstrated skills in field sampling techniques, including dissection, microbial and microscopic analysis.
• Demonstrated track record conducting and reporting (written and verbal) on quality control and/or research and experimental work.
• Demonstrated analytical skills and proficiency in excel, databases and statistical software.
• Knowledge of food safety, work health safety and environmental legislation.
• Knowledge and experience in working with quality systems and continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of food safety and environmental certification audit processes.
Responsibilities:
• Quality Assurance Leader.
• Ensure compliance on internal and external quality assurance programs.
• Provide technical support and advice to the team on work systems, health & safety, environmental and food safety regulations.
• Collect and analyse data to develop and implement procedures and policies that improve production and quality.
• Investigate issues, collect and analyse data on fish health, wellbeing and water quality to develop effective quality control procedures.
• Lead corrective action responses on biological related matters.
• Develop and implement employee training programs linked to biological systems and quality assurance.
• Design, conduct and report on experiments, tests and analyses that demonstrate the maintenance of quality systems and improve business practices.
Salary range depending upon the experience : $63,500 - $75,000
Location:
This position is available at Mainstream’s Wyndham facility in Werribee, Victoria, with potential for occasional travel to Mainstream’s QLD facilities
