Your new role
This is a full time permanent role commencing immediately and located in our Hays Canberra office. As the internal Health and Safety Manager at Hays, you will be working in conjunction with the Head of Safety - ANZ will ensure that risks to our employees and temporary contractors are identified and effectively managed so far as is reasonably practicable. The Health &Safety Manager will implement procedures within the Hays Health and Safety Management System (HSMS).

You will gain exposure to health and safety across various complex industries within both the private and public sectors. This is a multi-faceted role, where you will be required to travel to various sites across the Canberra region to conduct site assessments, consult with clients, provide solutions to any issues raised and ensure safety standards are followed. The Health & Safety Advisor implements procedures within the Hays Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) and will also receive support from the NSW/ACT RTW Co-ordinator to ensure the effective management and sustainable return to work of individuals who have sustained a work-related injury.?

In addition to this, you will become adept at navigating internal systems, ensuring end to end compliance with safety critical recruitment processes. When you join Hays as the Health and Safety Manager, you will part of a team culture that is committed to ensuring a safe working environment by promoting health and safety initiatives, both internally and for our clients externally. ?


Assist in the development of regional H&S plans and a Hazard/Actions Register for high risk clients, for example following site inspections, risk assessments, incidents, injuries or any other information deemed relevant


Complete site assessments for high-risk activities and monitor risks in accordance with company procedure


Contribute to the continuous performance improvement of H&S across the region


Remain mindful of the importance of early reporting and intervention for the return to work and implications for local injury management and workers compensation


Ensure the H&S induction, training and coaching of all new operational employees utilising available training resources


What you'll need to succeed


A minimum of 5 years' experience in the management of Health and Safety


Minimum of a Certificate IV in Health and Safety


ICAM Investigation techniques (desirable)?


Certificate IV Workplace Trainer and Assessor (desirable)


Demonstrated knowledge of Health and Safety legislation??


Experience with a multi-site employer??


Ability to effectively manage relationships with various key stakeholders across a variety of industries and risk levels


Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills


Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment


Current class C driver licence is essential??
