Berry Creek Packing Company Pty Ltd requires a Fruit Farm Worker to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of its farming and packing operations. As a full-service mango packing facility and farm, Berry Creek handles large volumes of produce that need meticulous organization and management. A dedicated farm worker will ensure that all tasks related to the cultivation, harvesting, and packing of fruits are performed efficiently and to the highest standards.
This role is crucial for maintaining inventory accuracy, which supports the company’s goal of providing consistent, high-quality service to its growers and customers. Furthermore, the farm worker will play a vital part in ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, such as HACCP, which are essential for maintaining the company’s reputation for excellence in the competitive agricultural market.
Employing a farm worker allows Berry Creek to streamline its logistics, improve traceability, and meet the growing demands of the domestic markets, thereby supporting its long-term growth and sustainability.
Minimum Requirements:
• Relevant qualification at the level of a Certificate I or higher, with relevant post qualification work experience of to at least one (1) year (20 hours plus per week) OR
• Relevant work experience undertaken in Australia of at least one (1) year full-time or part-time equivalent. OR
• Relevant work experience (overseas or in Australia) of at least two (2) years full-time or part-time equivalent.
In this role your main responsibilities include:
• Prepare fields for planting, plant mango trees, and ensure proper spacing and depth.
• Operate and maintain irrigation systems to ensure mango trees receive adequate water.
• Prune mango trees to promote healthy growth and increase fruit yield.
• Apply fertilisers as needed to ensure healthy tree growth and fruit production.
• Monitor mango trees for signs of pests or diseases and apply appropriate treatments.
• Pick mangoes at the correct time to ensure optimum quality and yield.
• Sort and pack mangoes according to quality standards, ensuring minimal waste.
• Ensure all documentation is accurately completed and filed.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and tools, ensuring they are in good working order.
• Operate material handling equipment safely and maintain equipment in good working condition.
• Maintain accurate records of planting, harvesting, and treatments applied to mango trees.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP and other quality standards
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and company policies.
Skills, experience and attributes:
