Main Tasks & Duties attributed to the position
Amongst the tasks and duties attributed to your full-time position, you will be expected/required to:
• Measuring, cutting, finishing, fitting and installing flat glass fixtures;
• Measuring glass and windows and door openings accurately to determine the glass size and type required;
• Identifying patterns or types of glass needed for replacements;
• Determining which glazing safety standards apply and following appropriate procedure and guidelines;
• Following safety precautions when working with glass and at heights, wear gloves, steel toe shoes, wrist guards, glasses and high-vis, as needed;
• Installing mirrors, kitchen splash-backs and shower screens;
• Cutting and processing glass in-store orders;
• Following order sizes and template requirements provided;
• Using polishing machine (single belt wheel manual sanders) and other equipment to cut and polish glass fittings (including breaking-off sheets and excess glass with notched tools and glass pliers and smoothing rough glass edges using belt sanders and smoothing wheels);
• Re-glazing and installing glass doors and windows on-site (including working with, timber beads, aluminium framed windows and putty face ups);
• Checking for errors and reporting on any glass defects;
• Picking-up and delivering glass;
• Ensuring work area is kept clean and free from hazards (such as broken glass);
• Providing detailed reports and work plans after measuring at a job sites;
• Restore and repair leadlights;
• Ad hoc order of suppliers; and
• Ad hoc coating, cutting, etching, trimming and treating glass to achieve special effects, as required by special work orders.
Required Qualifications & Work Experience:
• On site work experience in the glazing industry and/or Certificate III in Glass and Glazing.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Professional Attributes & Other Relevant Requirements:
• Have or be willing to provide a working with children check;
• Be punctual and polite when at work;
• Be available and committed to full-time employment for at least 4 years;
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and unsupervised;
• Sound communication skills;
• High degree of honesty and commitment;
• Sufficient technical and on-the-job competencies and skills;
• Good work ethic and punctuality practices;
• Flexibility to work on weekends and public holidays, as well as late hours, when and if
required;
• Strong customer service acumen; and
• Ability to work in teams and to liaison with co-workers, whenever required.
Required Licences
• Hold a valid manual driver's license; and
• Have a valid white card.
