Helga's Pancake House located in the beautiful CBD of Cairns opened its doors in 2015 and has since developed a high reputation for high quality breakfast & lunch. Our guests are able to enjoy fresh, mostly organic pancake creations, our ingredients & produce are sourced mainly locally, and all dishes are made from scratch and fresh to order.
We are currently on the look-out for a hands-on Head Chef with the ability to lead by example, motivate & mentor the small team while maintaining a professional, efficient, safe, profitable and enjoyable kitchen environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Planning, preparing, calculating and cooking a variety of dishes, using skill, creativity and cost effective methods
• Interviewing, hiring, training and developing kitchen team members in all areas of food operations
• Planning, assigning, and directing work
• Managing performance, rewarding and providing feedback to team members as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Ensuring the ongoing practice of safe food handling and preparation techniques
• Ensuring compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other regulations
• Developing weekly specials and contributing to menu development
• Managing budgeted labour and food costs
• Working closely with the Restaurant Manager to maintain a successful operation
The successful candidate should demonstrate the following qualifications:
• At least 3 years of professional kitchen experience
• A minimum of 1 years’ experience in a leading position (Sous Chef, Head Chef or Executive Chef)
• Legendary guest service skills and a make it happen attitude
• A commitment to continually increase knowledge of our products and services in order to offer exceptional experiences to our guests
We offer a competitive salary package to the right candidate. No public holiday work involved as we are closed on all public holidays. No split shifts, weekend work required.
