We currently have a great opportunity for a Corporate Lawyer to join the NRMA’s Group Legal team on a full-time permanent basis.
The role offers the flexibility to work from home and across our Sydney CBD offices and/or Olympic Park as agreed and required for the role.
In this role you will deliver timely and relevant legal advice and services to support the Corporate strategy and goals, manage legal risks and educate NRMA staff on their legal obligations.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Provide legal support to NRMA’s business units and Corporate functions as required from time to time including advising on compliance matters and the applicability of various laws
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements
- Review material issued by NRMA to ensure NRMA minimises and mitigates its exposure to legal liabilities or claims
- Identify, escalate and provide advice on significant legal risks
- Advise on and assist with investigations, incidents and litigation, including dealing with subpoenas, advising on customer complaints, and assisting with complaints from regulators
- Use external legal providers in a way that ensures commercial, targeted and cost-effective advice, and monitor their work appropriately
- Develop or assist with developing training programmes on issues within Group Legal & Governance’s remit
- Develop or assist with developing policies and procedures within Group Legal & Governance’s remit
- Support other members of Group Legal in prioritising work flow from across the NRMA Group and providing an overall service across the business
- Help build the capacity of non-legal staff to identify and raise legal risks and issues and to comply with NRMA Group policies and procedures
- Manage own training and development costs to the budget set by the General Counsel and Company Secretary
- Be the primary point of contact for certain business units and Corporate functions, as directed from time to time
- Help manage external legal provider costs to budget by assisting the supervising lawyer in monitoring usage and servicing levels
