Calita Bondi is a marisqueria (Mexican seafood restaurant) that sits in front of Bondi Beach. Calita showcases incredible locally sourced seafood through Baja Peninsula inspired dishes with a small menu focused on house-made tacos and botanas (snacks/ share plates).?Calita’s drinks are primarily mezcal and tequila based, serving small batch and boutique brands imported from Mexico. A range of classic, jalapeño and Tommy’s margaritas are central to the drinks menu, alongside the the signature Vuelve a La Vida (back to life or ‘mexican hangover cure’) seafood cocktail.
Calita Bondi is now looking for an experienced Chef to join their team.
About your role and responsibilities:
Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment;
Cook and heat vegetables, such as onions, garlic, tomatoes, potatoes etc.
Assisting and helping other team members in preparing food;
Contact with the suppliers and order ingredients;
Handling food according to health and safety regulations;
Preparing food by cutting, mixing, chopping fruit and vegetables;
Supervise all sections and assign tasks to kitchen staff members;
Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods;
Manage kitchen staff and delegate tasks related to meal prep, cooking and delivering food to diners in a timely fashion;
Monthly comparison of inventory against real consume to check on the product usage in order to avoid food waste;
Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
Create menus with Restaurant Managers;
About you:
At least 2 years of experience as a Chef;
Strong knowledge of mexican cuisine;
Strong time management skills;
Strong communication skills;
Ability to manage multiple orders;
Job type: Permanent/full-time
Salary: $70,000 - $80,000
