We have an opening in our Finance Department for a position of Assistant Accountant to join our growing team.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Director, the Assistant Accountant plays an important role in supporting the business to achieve its strategic goals. You will effectively assist in the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports and maintain an accurate, complete, and reconciled general ledger.
Your duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Analyse financial data and reports to ensure their compliance with accounting policies and requirements
• Identify and escalate discrepancies with financial transactions and policies
• Maintain Financial Database and other applications
• Perform month end, year-end reconciliations, closing and reporting duties
• Support in generating and documenting business processes and accounting policies for enhanced internal controls
• Handle reconciliation of the monthly fixed asset register and assure the assets are intact and complete
• Collaborate with the Financial Director in preparing and executing financial plans, including budgeting, forecasting and analysis
• Involved in the preparation of annual budget on operational expenses across all departments through variance analysis of the actual spending vs budget
• Involved in Annual Financial Audits and other internal audit process
• Work with Financial Director to improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
• Ensure the accuracy of General ledger records and key financial reports
• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, classifying, computing, posting and recording accounts payable and receivable data
• Get involved in Ad-hoc Projects as required by the business
Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, accounting or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to details
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Salary: $65,000 - $75,000
