Mechanical Project Engineer

IPS Australia is the largest independent service provider for rotating equipment in Australia.
Our workshops are based in Somersby, NSW & Kwinana Beach, WA, and our business is to maintain and provide spare parts for rotating equipment such as steam and gas turbines, pumps, compressors and blowers, gearboxes as well as reciprocating compressors.
IPS Australia is currently looking for a qualified Mechanical Project Engineer with at least 2 years of experience in rotating equipment to be based at our Somersby NSW or Kwinana Beach workshop and work on sites in Australia, New Zealand, PNG, Pacific Islands.
Your main responsibility includes:
• Ensures the correct protocols, procedures, specifications and documentations are in place for the projects to be completed to the correct/relevant engineering standards
• Ensures technical support is provided to members of the team executing the projects, from technician to supervisor and management level
• Ensures that other projects within position scope are implemented and managed as needed and or as directed and any other tasks as assigned from time to time
• Developing, reviewing relevant specifications and standards
• Responding to inquiries from clients and internal team members and resolving technical problems concerning the projects
• Managing QA paperwork, associated standards and design specifications and documentation, ensuring adherence to IPS QA system
• Working and communicating with Project Managers, Engineering Professionals, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure that the relevant QA standards and expectations are met
• Advising management on matters requiring attention and implementing their decisions
• Overseeing work by subcontractors and developing reports on achieved specifications
• Collecting and analysing technical data associated with projects undertaken, and reporting on project outcomes
• Develop and maintain the goodwill of clients and promote the sale of IPS products and services to existing and potential clients
• Maintain at all time a professional approach to clients and coworkers
• Assist sales activities for both workshop and field services in conjuction with IPS Business Development Managers
You will work mainly on:
• Steam and gas turbines
• Axial, centrifugal, multistage, integrally gear compressors and expanders
• Screw compressors
• Fans and blowers
• Industrial gearboxes
• Reciprocating compressors and valves
• All type of rotors
Ability to travel to field locations within Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands is required on a regular basis. The applicant will be able to work on his own or in a team according to OHS&E standards.
To be considered you must:
• Have Certificate 3 and/or 4 of Mechanical Engineering and/or Engineering Degree
• Have 2+ years rotating equipment experience
• Be willing to relocate to our workshop locations
• Have experience in project management (preferable)
• Have a professional accreditation such as CPEng, NER, RPEng, RPEQ (preferable)
