SICE ANZ is looking for a Network Engineer who will play a key role in the delivery of the Motorway Network Communication System (MNCS) for the West Gate Tunnel project.
As part of a cross-functional team, this position will perform the following activities:
- Review and optimise network design
- Installation and commissioning of network hardware
- Install, configure, troubleshoot and support network switches, routers and firewalls.
- Network configuration to implement approved design and best practices
- Prepare test cases and work with testing team to perform formal acceptance testing
- Support the connectivity and data centre services to the network
- Maintain design reports, and asset register
- Update network documentation
- Support the procurement processes of the MNCS packages
- Review civil drawings, prepare and update fibre design
- Support the connectivity and testing of field devices to the field access network
The preferred candidate will have formal qualifications in a relevant field of engineering or equivalent experience, as well as at least 3 years of demonstrated hands-on experience with the following:
- Cisco routers and switches configuration.
- Experience with firewalls (Palo Alto)
- Network design and optimisation
- Hands-on experience in configuring networking switches and routers
- L3 protocols and technologies (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, BFD, VRF, Multicast
- L2 protocols and technologies (REP, STP, vPC)
- Network management and support protocols experience (SNMP, DHCP, DNS, RADIUS)
- Experience in virtualization and data center technologies
- Understanding of fibre optics and passive networks
Relevant experience in ITS or similar large-scale projects is also desirable but not essential.
