Biosensor Scientist
Perth I Western Australia
Who we Are
VitalTrace Pty Ltd is a multi-award winning, VC-funded Australian based Med-tech start-up company aiming to improve outcomes for mothers and children during the childbirth process. We are doing this by developing novel, cutting-edge, biosensor technologies for fetal monitoring during childbirth . We believe mothers and babies deserve the highest standard of care, and that childbirth monitoring should be accurate
and allow clinicians to make informed, timely decisions. We have a vibrant culture with a diverse, high-performing, multidisciplinary team of
clinicians, researchers, engineers, chemists, software developers and data scientists - all working towards the same goal.
About the Role
VitalTrace is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Biosensor Scientist, with a minimum of 3+ years of relevant experience, to join our team. You will be working with some of the brightest stars in the world of medical devices and biosensor development and manufacturing. VitalTrace aims to design and develop novel electrochemical biosensors, ultimately leading to transforming this unique R&D to manufacturing capability.
Previous experience with experimental design and testing of electroanalytical experiments is essential, as is the ability to conduct statistical analyses and interpretation of results. Presentation of results and the ability to communicate complex information is a necessity, together with the capability of modifying biosensor designs following experimental outcomes. To be successful in this role, you will need to
be a confident communicator, an innovative and creative thinker, and a team player.
Responsibilities
• Designing, fabricating, evaluating, and optimising novel electrochemical enzymatic biosensors.
• Conducting electroanalytical experiments to demonstrate efficacy and viability of new biosensor formulations and architectures.
• Experience with purification techniques and characterization using Spectrophotometry, SEM and ITC.
• Performing test methods for biosensor performance assessment, generating documentation and written work instructions, and reporting on experimental results.
• Performing statistical analyses on experimental data sets and providing informed interpretation of results.
• Collaborate with other teams to perform cross-disciplinary projects to further biosensor development, including pre-clinical studies.
• Ensuring IP protection of developed methods.
• Performing testing methods, generating documentation, and ensuring product traceability based on regulatory requirements.
• All listed responsibilities are essential functions to this position. We may from time to time vary or modify your duties but only to those duties for which you have the skill and competence.
Requirements
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with biosensors; electrochemical biosensor experience is preferred.
• Experience in polymer chemistry and/or polymer electrochemistry, is desirable.
• Experience with operating in a regulated environment and/or a medical device field, is desirable.
• Demonstrated scientific experience in the biosensors field.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience in the execution of the scientific method.
• Demonstrate close adherence to laboratory procedures and protocols to generate high-quality scientific outputs.
• Ability to be highly methodical, well-organised, and detail-oriented while being able to communicate scientific results clearly to the team through written and verbal means.
• Demonstrated understanding and experience with data analysis tools (i.e., Excel, Python) and statistical methods and analysis.
• Ability to work independently across multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment.
• Self-motivated individual who takes initiative and holds the highest scientific standards coupled with the ability to work in both a team environment and independently with minimal guidance.
Qualifications
• PhD degree with a minimum of 2+ years of relevant experience
