The Opportunity
Our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility is looking for an Electrical Technician in our Slabmaking Maintenance Team based in Port Kembla. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
The Slab Yard serves as the temporary storage facility for our steel slabs. These slabs are later transported to our Mills for further processing, using a combination of manual and automated cranes with lifting capacities ranging from 20 to 65 tons. In line with technological advancements, the slab yard is currently undergoing a significant capital project which aims to automate the remaining cranes, making it the first of its kind in Australia. As part of your role, you will have the unique opportunity to be directly involved in the commissioning of and ongoing maintenance of this cutting-edge technology.
In this critical role, you will use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes in maintaining and developing the Slab Yard equipment. You'll implement and improve our maintenance strategies to achieve optimum equipment performance and reduction in failures. Your contributions will ensure that this world-class asset delivers safe, efficient and reliable continuous operations.

- perform equipment inspections as well as detailed planning and condition monitoring and optimisation of equipment
- assess the priority of emergent work relative to planned work to ensure electrical trade resources are applied in the best interests of the business
