Wondering what a typical day looks like for our Pest Control Service Technicians?

Morning

• You will have your own company vehicle at home, therefore, in your company uniform, you’ll either travel to your first customer of the day or head to the depot to load your van with stock for your day's work.

On the road

• Your day will be spent visiting a number of different customers. No two days will be the same due to the variety of industries you will service.
• You will service your customers’ sites by;
• Inspecting customer premises for signs of pests and carrying out measures as required to eliminate pests
• Clean and remove evidence of pest behavior
• Advise customers on maintenance and hygiene of their premises
• Complete accurate Service Reports after every visit
• Whilst you don’t need to be an athlete, you will work up a sweat servicing multiple sites, so you would need to be physically fit.
• You will be responsible for your own health and safety - this means it’s your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is safe at all times and that you take care on the road.

End of day

• Unless you need to re-stock, time to go home and relax and unwind.
• At the depot, is the best time for you to debrief with your manager and discuss how your day has gone.

About the Role: 

In this role, you support a broad team of staff responsible for the maintenance, repair and incident response of critical services and systems covering Electrical, Mechanical and Fire. The Service Technician – Shift Team role will be the first to respond to alerts and alarms, assign the severity, prioritise the rectification and determine whether escalation is required to third party contractors.

Shift team members will proactively perform inspections to ensure all critical infrastructure is operating as designed and identify any possible risk to the infrastructure and buildings. The position will monitor the critical infrastructure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and be able to make quick decisions on prioritisations and escalations based on their experience. The shift team assists with the monitoring of all contractors conducting critical work and ensures strict adherence to processes and procedures.

Other responsibilities include:

• Promptly responding to service requests and emergency faults.
• Conduct initial fault finding, determine causes, and implement remedies.
• Communicate repair timelines with internal teams for coordinated client communications.
• Perform critical switching to prevent disruptions in case of equipment failure.
• Ensure timely completion of planned maintenance, daily site reviews, and adherence to safety policies.

 

 About You: 

We are looking for a passionate person who has a trade or tertiary qualification in relevant fields (Electrical, Refrigeration, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Fire, Telecommunications).

• Proven experience/ exposure in trade or critical facilities.
• Prior experience in critical infrastructure environments with adherence to strict procedures.
• Experience operating Building Management Systems (BMS) or Energy Management Systems (EMS).
• Exposure to data center equipment, including CRAC units, UPS, generators, and fire systems.
• Demonstrated skills in managing critical infrastructure, utilizing electronic monitoring systems, fault-finding, and contributing to process improvements.

 

Please note: this position works on a rotational 12hr shift roster (2 days, 2 nights – 4 off)

Skills and Experience:

Over 5 years' experience in implementing large scale ICT networks (i.e. switching and routing) using Arista equipment.
Detailed knowledge of different cyber security and network technologies
Knowledge and experience in working on geographically dispersed and constrained networks, the associated security threat landscape and related mitigations.
Experience in developing solutions for private cloud or tenancy.
Experience in building and deploying within a segmented network environment, with focus on virtualization and platform layer.
Experience in implementing and testing Quality of Service (QoS) DSCP markings of traffic to meet defined standards within secure federated environments.
Basic understanding of Hypervisor/Hyper-Converged Infrastructure, Active Directory and PKI certificate services
Ability to take requirements, standards, and frameworks and apply them in a practical application to future proposed solution designs and systems.

The Position
This is a key role for an experienced Systems Engineer. The successful candidate will play a key role in designing the next generation of visible and infrared astronomical instrumentation. We are looking for qualified (degree in Science, Engineering) Systems Engineer with experience in instrument or aerospace systems design including; requirements development, prototyping, build/manufacture and system validation.  A strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key.
