What you will do

We've been doing developer operations for years, with fullstack engineers making Terraform changes as part of their PRs. But we've reached a level of complexity where we need someone to assume overall technical ownership of our infrastructure, champion best practices, etc.

• You'll be involved not just in managing our Cloud, but also contributing to and helping to maintain our build/developer tooling.
• Lead the technical ownership of our infrastructure, while championing best practices.
• Our stack looks something like this:
  • Github, CircleCI, Sonarqube
  • Docker, Node, Typescript, Vue, pnpm, Vite
  • GCP, Terraform, Terraform Cloud
  • Atlassian, Google Suites

We are looking for an Environment Automation Engineer to design, implement and maintain monitoring solutions for our IT environments.

As the Environment and Automation Engineer you will work closely with development teams, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders to automate IT processes and workflows, streamline Environments management, and improve system performance and reliability.

As the Environment and Automation Engineer you will be responsible for the following:

• Designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions for IT environments, including configuration management, monitoring and templates for infrastructure as code (IaC)
• Strategizing, Design, and Implement monitoring systems pipelines for automation and tools for Application, servers, and other IT assets.
• Identifying opportunities for automation by working closely with various teams to understand and prioritize their needs thus reducing manual effort and increasing efficiency.
• Configuring and supporting the performance and health of the IT infrastructure to identify and troubleshoot issues using monitoring tools and systems.
• Analysing monitoring data to identify trends and potential risks.
• Developing custom automated scripts and tools as needed for day-to-day Environment management.
• Creating and maintaining documentation of Environment automation and monitoring systems, procedures, templates, and playbooks.
• Continuously evaluating and improving automation solutions to ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability.

We are looking for a Backend Software Engineer

Compensation: $165,000 - $175,000 salary (including superannuation), employee equity plan grant & world class benefits.

We're seeking a highly skilled Backend Software Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable backend services that power the API's behind our web and mobile applications. Your primary focus will be on crafting efficient, high-performance code using languages like C#, Go, Java, or Python. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design and build software to delight our customers and implement best practices for security, scalability, and operational efficiency. Your expertise in cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, containerization and orchestration tools will contribute to the seamless deployment and maintenance of our backend infrastructure. Strong communication and problem-solving skills, a passion for technology, and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

About the role: 

• Writing high quality and maintainable code in a modern programming language like C#, Golang, Java or Python.
• Experience in designing and developing highly scalable backend services for RESTful or GraphQL APIs to serve web and mobile applications that solve real-world problems.
• Understanding of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes for deploying and managing backend applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to troubleshoot issues, optimize performance, and implement and maintain scalable solutions. 
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, document technical designs, and present ideas clearly. Manage priorities, deadlines and deliverables. Own and operate with autonomy in solving problems, always keeping the customer at the forefront.

About you:

• 3+ years of experience in a backend engineering role designing, building, and operating modern distributed systems, using modern programming languages like C#, Golang, Java or Python. 
• Extensive experience working with cloud-based applications, containerization and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
• System architecture design experience and understanding; space/time complexity, API contract design. 
• Good understanding of distributed and scalable systems - you can design, build and maintain complex systems with a desire to work on deep and interesting technical problems.
• Ability to work in fast paced teams and comfort in communicating remotely through chat, docs, video calls, and other collaborative online tools.
