An exceptional opportunity exists for an experienced Engineer to join our engineering and design department on full time basis.
With over 100 years of experience within the engineering and gear manufacturing industries, Crown Engineering at Richlands, Brisbane, is a privately owned and operated company, and a leading supplier of products and services within the mining, mineral processing and energy sectors to a wide range of national & international customers.
Tasks & Responsibilities
• Designing and planning of products, jig & fixtures for production/manufacturing departments;
• Design and project control in the manufacture of gearboxes, gears up to 6 metres in diameter and various transmission systems;
• Design of fabricated and welded products;
• Producing gear data sheets for gear cutting/grinding department;
• Use of precision measuring tools i.e. micrometers, verniers, dial gauges, etc to establish testing, inspection and quality control standards.
• Reverse engineering and producing detailed manufacturing specifications and drawings;
• Checking and/or approval of drawings produced by drafting team for manufacture;
• Engineering support and documentation (including engineering change control, BOMs, mechanical design, work instructions, test procedures, verification and validation testing of design and manufacturing processes)
• Management and maintenance of PDM system, control of design documentation and standardisation;
• Using AutoCAD LT and SolidWorks for design, FEA, simulations and drawings;
• Liaise with customers as and when required for designing of products for customer order and/or delivery of projects;
• Implement process change and continuous improvements to designs;
• Ability to prioritise your own work load and work as part of a team;
• Working closely with our drafting, production, QA/QC and estimating teams;
• Required to travel, local and interstate, to perform measurements, assessments, reporting, evaluation or supervision at customer sites.
Skills and experience
• Permanent, unrestricted Australian working rights;
• Must be proficient in English;
• Must have own transport and driver’s licence;
• Must be proficient in AutoCAD LT and SolidWorks – modelling, drafting, FEA and PDM;
• Sound understanding of AS, ISO, AGMA standards, regulations, and rules which apply to the manufacturing industry;
• High level of experience in creating gear data sheets, design of all types of gearing and industrial drive systems;
• Experience in the measurement of & reverse engineering of all types of industrial products i.e. spur and helical gear, spiral bevel gears, complete gearboxes, etc;
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
• Highly motivated individual with a "can-do" attitude.
To be considered for this role you shall have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in one of the following; mechanical or design or project or production engineering qualification or higher; including a minimum of 2 years previous work experience in a manufacturing/workshop environment closely related to this role, and an essential knowledge and experience in gear data, design and manufacture.

Salary will be commensurate with experience in the range of $85,000 to $105,000 plus superannuation.
