This is an expansion of the Cyber Security Engineering team, focused on managing End User risk - configuring, maintaining, and continuously improving cyber security tools such as Cloud Access Security Broker, Zero Trust Network Access, Cloud DLP, Secure Web Gateway, Endpoint Privilege, and EndPoint Management. This will include reviewing and improving monitoring and access controls for other critical SaaS services such as Google Workspace, Slack, JIRA, Confluence.

You will work alongside other members of the Cyber Security Engineering team who are responsible for researching, architecting and implementing Cyber Security capabilities for the Nine group.

This role will also be exposed to other Cyber Security tools, including endpoint privilege, vulnerability management and identity tools amongst others.

The Cyber Security Support Engineer plays a crucial role in safeguarding Nine’s critical systems and data by overseeing key controls that protect Nine’s data and content.  This role involves maintaining and tuning robust policy settings that control access to key applications and portals, managing access to applications, troubleshooting cyber security application issues and responding to service interruptions and incidents. 

This role will also assist the team in performing other key security functions such as vulnerability management, help coordinate vulnerability remediation efforts, and ensure continuous improvement of security posture. Other cyber security engineering tasks involve product evaluation and implementation, risk management and security incident response. 

Key accountabilities of this role is to:

• Implement, configure, and maintain endpoint solutions to securely manage, monitor, and control access.

• Define and enforce policies and procedures for the management of endpoints ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Conduct regular reviews and assessments to identify and remediate security risks related to SWG, CASB and DLP.

• Monitor and audit privileged activities, ensuring compliance with policies and promptly addressing any anomalies or security incidents.

• Conduct regular vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security scans on systems, networks, and applications to identify vulnerabilities and weaknesses.

• Stay informed about emerging threats and vulnerabilities by monitoring security advisories, research reports, and threat intelligence sources.

• Translate threat intelligence into actionable insights for managing end user risk

THE ROLE

The Lead Data Engineer will be working with the relevant project team to lead the development and optimisation of data and analytics architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection to deliver integrated and quality business information and reporting solutions. 

Reporting to the Head - Data Solutions, key responsibilities for this role include:

• Develop, test, and maintain data and analytics architecture, including databases and large-scale processing systems, for optimal extraction, transformation and upload of data from multiple sources and different technologies. 

• Work with the stakeholders to support their data infrastructure requirements and assist with resolving technical issues.  

• Provide Technical leadership of the implementation of data and/or integration solutions for complex enterprise systems within complex multistakeholder and formalised project delivery environments.

• Deploy models into production using CI/CD pipelines.  

• Reverse and forward engineer data assets.  

• Build data acquisition, ingestion pipeline, and data lake capability. 

• Recommend improvements to data reliability, efficiency, and quality, and provide high quality data assets for enterprise use. 

• Identify, design, and implement process improvement to automate processes, optimise data delivery, and achieve infrastructure efficiency and scalability.  

• Collate, process, transform, and model raw data from multiple sources, and utilise different data sourcing, integration, and modelling techniques.  

• Pilot, demonstrate and evaluate useability of new technologies and systems, 

• Design and update user guides, technical specifications and Process flow documents for all applications and tools.  

• Creation and maintenance of artefacts relating to data models (e.g. DDLs, mapping of data, DMLs, Data Dictionaries, Change Registers etc.) 

• Assisting in the development and continuous improvement of data modelling and principles, processes, and standards 

• Assisting in the implementation of data asset standards, and in the implementation of related data asset governance processes

There are significant investments being made in developing strategic data assets for the University and its entities, and a critical component of all this work is the definition of the strategic data model (Enterprise Data Model) that describes the data assets required to meet business analytical requirements and this will be used as the basis for all the data engineering work to then build the data assets.

The Lead Data Modeller (Analytics) will lead this work, who will have overall ownership for the definition and development of the strategic Enterprise Data Model as well as oversee all project data modelling activity to ensure alignment with the overall data strategy.

• Tertiary qualifications in Data and Analytics, Data Science, Business or Statistics or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

• Advanced Knowledge and experience in Snowflake. 

• Highly developed skills to write, test and validate data transformation and ETL routines within DBT, Apache Airflow, Python, Alteryx.

• Data Vault 2 data model implementation experience.

• Dimensional data model implementation experience.

• Demonstrated knowledge of database tools and SQL skills for navigating and troubleshooting these data processes in these platforms. 

• Experience with database, data pipeline and workflow management tools: Snowflake, JIRA, Wiki, DBT Airflow, Python etc. 

• Experience in pipeline scalability, through services such as Kubernetes.

• Experience working in a collaborative environment.
