About the Role (Your Why)  

Datacom operations are seeking an Operations Centre Engineer whose role is to monitor systems including Windows, UNIX, Database, Cloud and backups in real-time on a 24x7x365 rotational basis and able to troubleshoot/triage/resolve events or escalating to specialist’s teams for resolution. You will receive a standby allowance for when offshift and when called in to cover, all hours are considered overtime. There is a shift allowance of 12.5% on all working hours too so that standard pay is as uniform as possible, regardless of if you are day or night shift.

It is essentially just above an entry-level role, so don't let the title scare you off! We do still need people with IT experience - the role is perfect for those who have done service desk or desktop engineering work - but note that this is still an associate level position. It is seen as a transitionary role and a great stepping stone to get into higher level IT roles, as has happened with many of our staff since the teams' inception 4 years ago. After working in this role, you should be able to handle the business critical tasks and changes while you have time to focus on any certifications you are interested in. You can really showcase your skills ihere and be involved with the technologies that you want to be involved with, initially at a lower level but you can steadily increase your utilisation of other, higher technologies as you grow and develop.

Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. What You'll Do

• Accepting, prioritising and managing Incidents and Requests.
• Real-time monitoring of all infrastructure for availability, capacity and performance monitoring and Reporting.
• Performing compliance activities/tasks e.g. Back-up & Health Checks.
• Proactivity identifying potential issues through our health check regime.
• Completion and monitoring of patching activities.
• Prompt detection, resolution, and escalation of incidents through MIM & Resolver Groups.
• Exposure to BCP/DR methodologies and planning.
• Creating & managing change requests and assigned tasks.
• Proactively working with the team & resolver groups on continuous process improvements.
• The role involves shift work, so you need to be able to work autonomously or part of small team.
• You need to be able to think on your feet as you will need to deal with a number of customers with changing needs.

This role requires Australian Citizenship and you must be able to obtain a minimum Baseline Security Clearance and is available across most of our AU offices except for WA due to the time difference being difficult to roster; Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide are all places we have a Datacom offices where you can work from! Note that the majority of the work will be from home though and you may be in the office as little as once per month!

Reporting to the Manager - Maintenance Operations, the Maintenance Watch Engineer role will provide effective day-to-day oversight and notification of engineering issues that relate to the fleet’s operational status.

You will maximise aircraft availability by providing guidance to company operations and flight crew regarding continuing airworthiness requirements during all phases of flight and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. You will monitor the technical status of aircraft and systems on the day of operations and by the use of your in-depth knowledge, investigate and provide direction for the resolution of any aircraft defects.

As the first point of contact for all reportable defects your role will include monitoring and reviewing all defects that have implications for the customer experience, with reference to the product failure punctuality guide, and communicate requirements to the Regional Operations Centre (ROC).

You’ll have:

• Experience as a senior LAME with a minimum of five years in a Line or Base Maintenance environment or a higher level of aircraft engineering and maintenance experience.
• Hold a CASA Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence, rated on the Airbus A320 and/or the Fokker F100 aircraft (or similar aircraft in the B1/B2 category).
• Strategic and analytical thinker with proven problem-solving and time management skills, particularly when under pressure.
• High level of computer skills in Microsoft Office and familiarity with maintenance information systems such as the Trax and IAS software packages.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels within a team.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and process compliance
• Experience with the management of AOG recovery of aircraft.
• Ability to work as part of a team to produce safe, compliant and desirable outcomes on behalf of the business.

About the Role (your why)

Working as a Desktop Support Engineer you will be responsible for the provision of all aspects of End User Services to Datacom’s customers. Aligned to our customers business requirements, we provide tailored maintenance services, hardware and software break/ fix support, remote support, software deployment and relocation services.

• Initiate and drive service and process improvement

What will a day in this role look like:

• As a Principal Engineer within the team, you will be in involved in managing and delivering local and national projects throughout the whole lifecycle – from front end strategy and planning, to detailed design and delivery.
• Assist in the delivery of projects, across a variety of market sectors, communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Be responsible for mentoring and guiding junior engineers, designers and drafters whilst collaborating across engineering disciplines and groups within AECOM.

Main Responsibilities:

- Internal Developer Platform (IDP)

•   Evaluate and architect IDP solutions, providing automation support throughout the product lifecycle, including interfacing with existing tools.

•  Lead the evolution of IDP in collaboration with the Product Owner (PO).

•  Continuously design and refine IDP to streamline our SAFe release train.

- IDP Integrations

• Integrate IDP with infrastructure management tools, ensuring efficient control over infrastructure provisioning, upgrades, and recovery using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and other relevant technologies.

• Lead the integration between IDP and the Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CICD) pipeline, encompassing source code repository automation, centralized and aggregated solution-level CICD, and governance of CICD practices to eliminate frictions.

• Lead integrations between IDP and the Test Automation framework (Touchstone).

• Lead integration efforts between IDP and Operation Automation, ensuring automated commissioning, monitoring, alerting, and recovery beyond service deployment in the CICD pipeline.

- Piloting and Enabling

• Continuously explore new tools and technologies for application development teams.

• Empower application development teams post Proof of Concept (POC) of new tools or technologies through training and guidance, enabling them to efficiently acquire the necessary skills for future work.

• Collaborate with feature teams on internal application architecture to ensure seamless integration with the overall platform. 

- Team growth

• Mentor junior team members in design and development skills.

• Supervise juniors to ensure proper and timely completion of tasks.

Relevant Work Experience:

• Software Development: 10+ years of professional software development experience

• Software Architecture: Architect, design, and develop sophisticated software solutions.

• Extensive expertise in designing and constructing microservices-based and distributed software architectures.

• Code debugging & troubleshooting :Proficient in advanced code debugging and troubleshooting skills, enabling the diagnosis of issues in code structure and platform architecture.

• System and Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with databases, including MySQL, Mongo, and Elasticsearch.

• Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and HTTP protocols for understanding data transmission over networks.

• Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms like AWS, Azure.

• Excellent scripting skills in scripting languages.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code frameworks such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi.

• Proficiency in monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, ELK stack, and Datadog would be advantageous.
