The necessary information will be sourced and parts ordered. Reassembly and testing are then to be carried out. Certain parts will need be produced in the machine shop which requires knowledge of materials and the ability to operate a manual lathe and mill. Repairs may also involve basic fabrication/welding. A certain portion of the work will be on pneumatic or purely mechanical devices and systems. Workshop upkeep and improvement are ongoing tasks. Work at remote mine sites is frequent and generally involves programmed maintenance, troubleshooting, job scoping, upgrades, breakdown response and other duties of similar nature. Equipment such as mobile plant, drive systems, lubrication sets, large drills and processing plant are the sort of items tended to. New installations of piping and product management systems, for example, are also often carried out. "Maintenance Engineer"

Daily responsibilities:

Inspection and Maintenance: on mobile mining equipment such as haul trucks, excavators, loaders, dozers, and graders.
Scheduled Servicing: Following maintenance schedules provided by manufacturers and scheduling routine servicing activities to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of equipment.
Record-Keeping: Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, parts replacements, and equipment performance, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other record-keeping tools.
Safety Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies by conducting maintenance tasks according to established procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and participating in safety training programs.
· Team Collaboration: Collaborating with other maintenance engineers, technicians, operators, and supervisors to coordinate maintenance activities, share knowledge, and address maintenance-related challenges effectively.
Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency enhancements in maintenance practices, equipment reliability, and performance.
Training and Development: Staying updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in mobile plant maintenance through continuous learning, training programs, and professional development activities.
Cost Analysis, control and estimation : Analyzing maintenance costs associated with mobile plant equipment, including labour, parts, materials, and external services.
Budgeting: Assisting in the preparation of maintenance budgets by providing input on anticipated costs for routine maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and equipment replacements.
·Life Cycle Costing: Conducting life cycle costing analysis to evaluate the total cost of ownership of mobile plant equipment over its operational lifespan.
· Cost Reduction Initiatives: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements in maintenance processes, practices, and procurement strategies.

Must Haves:

Bachelor of Engineering degree-or equivalent.
10 Years + Trade (with post-trade development) or engineering background with experience in Surface Mobile Maintenance.
Proficiency in CMMS Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (SAP or Pronto) and frontline leadership training.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain positive relationships, with a passion for team growth and development.
Ability to work autonomously and manage conflicting priorities.
Ability to develop strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders.
Proactive attitude to safety, a strong work ethic, and leadership capabilities.
WA Drivers Licence.

About the Role

An incredible opportunity exists to innovate, strategise and deliver new and competitive technologies and solutions for Alcoa’s Refinery of the Future (ROF) program!

As the Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role as an Electrical subject matter expert contributing to a major engineering project and supporting with technology development and equipment integration capabilities by:

• Providing Engineering functional leadership to the ROF Program of Works for all aspects of the Electrical Infrastructure and Power Systems (Refinery and External).

• Having full oversight of 3rd Party services (Scoping, Contract definition, Deliverables, Quality, Review and Approval) associated with Electrical infrastructure design.  

• Investigating, initiating, and evaluating emerging electrical technologies and practices for inclusion into the design and operation of Refinery of the Future.  

• Designing and engineering Power systems, multi-MW scale load modulation systems, AC to DC power systems and tie is with grid utilities up to 220kV. 

• Collaborating and interfacing with the wider Alcoa network of Electrical and Power Subject Matter Experts. 

• Delivering turnover requirements to support operational readiness for Pilot/ prototype plants and any FEED package associated with ROF.

• Background in the Alumina, Mineral Processing, or similar heavy industry is considered favourable but not essential.
