About the role

This role mainly involves preventative and corrective maintenance, on-site and off-site support, fault finding, project installation and commissioning tasks on client sites, which are predominantly based in the Hunter & QLD regions.

You will liaise with internal teams including engineering, customer support and the product team to share learning and influence product development.

This position will require travel by road and air to support clients throughout Australia approx 1 week of every month. Flexibility to travel is required as well as a valid drivers license.

You'll be;

• Providing and delivering technical support, training material and troubleshooting guides to Customers, Reseller’s/Service Partners and Installation contractors (on site and remote).
• Overseeing onsite work processes, checking in with Service Partners.
• Reviewing and distributing inspection reports, conducting site and VERIDAPT vehicle audits.
• Providing adhoc onsite and remote support and technical assistance during the installation and commissioning phase of a project.
• Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) (Mark up drawings post commissioning and Complete Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) (at offsite locations as needed).
• Proposing and supporting the  implementation of Veridapt products and solutions to customers to drive improvement outcomes as needed
• Working collaboratively with the Customer Success/Helpdesk Team providing engineering/technical support to resolve site issues for Tier 2 issues.
• Providing feedback to internal stakeholders and product development based on user experience and customer requests/feedback.
• Conducting site audits and gather information (Scoping, materials, labour and other factors) required to assist the sales team in the preparation of quotes.
• Identifying and creating opportunities for potential sales opportunities with existing customers while assisting sales team with technical aspects during quote phase if needed.
• Ensuring safe systems of work practices are followed.

Leidos Security Enterprise Solutions is a leading supplier of security screening technologies, including X-ray, Millimetre Wave Body Scanning, and IMS (Ion Mobility Spectrometry) Explosive Trace Detection, to various industries in the Asia Pacific Region and worldwide.

In conjunction with Hobart Airport's new terminal build, we seek a Field Service Engineer to support the install, commissioning, ongoing maintenance and repair of security screening technology.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and can hold and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).

Being our first Hobart-based employee, this positions responsibility include:

• Conduct preventive maintenance, upgrades and repairs at customer sites
• Manage the customer relationship in Hobart and provide support both in person and via the phone
• Address customer issues and take them to full resolution
• Complete service, expense and weekly time reports
• Contribute to the team's focus on improving service delivery performance
• Attending ongoing training to up-skill and enhance product knowledge

We currently have a team member working in Launceston. We want to develop a shared on-call roster.

About the Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will develop applications in our AWS environment, to support revenue-generating, customer facing web applications for our fast-paced global fin-tech business.

You will work closely with the intent and development teams to create products based on business requirements driven through analytics and big data in a hands-on position with a mix of design, coding and infrastructure DevOps.

You will work with modern frameworks such as Nest.js, Next.js and a whole host of AWS services built using the CDK infrastructure as code library.

Key Responsibilities:

• Application Development: Design, develop, and deploy scalable applications in our AWS environment, ensuring they meet business requirements and adhere to high-quality standards;
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to ensure seamless product development from concept to deployment;
• Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on best practices, code reviews, and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation;
• API Management: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable APls, ensuring efficient data flow between front-end and back-end systems;
• Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization;
• Security: Implement and maintain security best practices in all aspects of software development, ensuring the integrity and safety of customer data;
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies, ensuring our tech stack remains modern and competitive.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Full Stack JavaScript (NodeJS & ReactJS) development, with a proven track record of successful projects;
• Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge in scalable software application design, API design, and integration;
• Familiarity with modern web development architectures, especially React/Next;
• Database Management: Proficiency in both relational (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and non-relational databases (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB);
• Containerization: Hands-on experience with Docker, understanding the principles of containerization, and its benefits in development and production environments;
• Testing: Experience with TDD/BDD methodologies, ensuring code reliability and maintainability;
• Security: Knowledge of secure coding practices, including OWASP standards, XSS prevention, and CORS policies;
• Authentication: Experience implementing authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth, JWT, SSO, and Identity Federation;
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
• Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a passion for troubleshooting and debugging.
