Your new company Our client is a market-leader woodfibre processor company based in Geelong.
They employ approximately 150 employees and operate 5 wood fibre processing sites nationally. We are looking for their new. Environment and Compliance Coordinator, who will be accountable for leading the development, delivery, and monitoring of environmental management plans and systems across their processing sites.
Your new role
Support the development, maintenance and implementation of environmental management systems, including management plans, policies, and procedures that enable delivery of our environmental management aspiration and compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
Championing a risk based approach to environmental management including: completing regular site inspections and audits, undertaking risk assessments and working with operational teams to develop controls and corrective actions where required.
Lead the development and maintenance of environmental monitoring programs to ensure accuracy and reliability of environmental data and reports.
Analysis of environmental monitoring results and data to identify trends and opportunities for performance improvement.
Contribute to incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes to prevent recurrence and improve environmental performance.
Developing and delivering training materials in areas including environmental management processes, best practices, and compliance requirements.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, external auditors, and industry bodies to ensure you are up-to-date with environmental practices, requirements and regulations.
Engage, guide, and support our people to think, act and behave with sustainability principles at the forefront of all they do.
Contribute to the implementation, monitoring and maintenance of forest management systems as required including supporting chain of custody and certification audit processes.
Assist with collection and consolidation of key environmental and other sustainability data for input into annual regulatory and corporate reporting requirements including Midway Group sustainability reporting.
What you'll need to succeed
Tertiary Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
5+ years in safety management, preferably in environments that include road transport, and heavy plant and equipment.
Ability to think conceptually and creatively to analyse and resolve challenges, at both a strategic and operational level.
Experience in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, compliance and reporting requirements
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and compliance audits.
Demonstrated ability to analyse and report from data using spreadsheet and database techniques.
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders across the organisation.
Experience in engaging with external stakeholder including regulators and interested parties.
Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, PowerBI)
You will have a passion for environmental and sustainability performance and determination to succeed.
Self-motivation to work autonomously as part of a national and interdisciplinary team environment
Comfortable working within agile environments and adapting to dynamic challenges.
Ability to work outdoors and in remote environments.
