THE OPPORTUNITY

Our Pontoon Caretakers are an integral part of the team primarily responsible for the servicing and maintenance of ancillary vessels, machinery and equipment on our Hardy Reef pontoons ensuring the best facilities for our day and overnight guests. A unique opportunity to live and work on the Great Barrier Reef where together with the hospitality team, you will share special places and create lasting memories.

This will be a full time position on a lifestyle roster, 7 days on/ 7 days off, at our Reefworld Pontoon located on the Outer Great Barrier Reef departing from Airlie Beach, QLD. Shared accommodation and meals provided whilst on-duty at the Reefworld Pontoon.

Your days might include:

• Ensuring exceptional presentation of the Pontoons and Auxiliary vessels;
• Vessel handling and compliance with Safety Management Systems;
• Maintenance and operation of pontoon generators and engines;
• General pontoon operational tasks;
• Undertaking crew training including in-water training and vessel inductions;
• Ensuring maintenance is undertaken on board and defects are recorded;
• Conducting rescue and lookout duties for guests;
• Customer service and product delivery working closely with the hospitality team.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful you will be a team player with a demonstrated positive “can-do” attitude, be comfortable living and working on water for extended periods of time (7/7 day full time roster). You will have previous deckhand experience, a general aptitude for maintenance and engineering, and ability to deliver professional customer service. You will have think on your feet and be a natural creative problem solver.

• Hold a minimum AMSA accredited Coxswains (Open); or Master <24 and a MED 2/3 ticket advantageous;
• Possess a Maritime Radio Operator's Licence;
• HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid and HLTAID015 - CPR & Apply Oxygen;

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking 2 x Pontoon (Trade) Engineers to join the team on a Permanent Full Time basis.

The responsibility of the Pontoon (Trade) Engineers is to supervise the maintenance and operation of the Reefworld and Heart Pontoons in a safe and efficient manner, while also conforming to the requirements set forth by GRMPA, AMSA, SMA, and Journey Beyond. What will you be doing?

Your primary job is ensure each and every guest has an experience of a lifetime. Together you will share special places and create lasting memories. Your days might include:

• Greeting and assisting guests ensuring the guests experience and safety is priority;

• Craft and execute data-driven solutions to optimise retail promotions, leveraging advanced analytical methods to maximise efficiency and outcomes for stakeholders.

• Analysing, interpreting, and connecting complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.

• Developing data models, algorithms, and statistical methods to solve a variety of business challenges.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Machine Learning Engineering, Data Engineering, and Data Platform groups, to understand business requirements, deliver data-driven solutions, and enhance data capabilities.

• Designing and conducting experiments to test hypotheses, validate findings, and ensure rigorous data science execution, covering scoping, building, testing, implementation, maintenance, tracking, and optimisation of predictive models.

• Communicating findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decisions are well-understood.

• Continuously seeking opportunities to improve processes, tools, and methodologies that make our environment or solutions more efficient.

• Ensuring the organisation meets regulatory requirements in relation to privacy, data security, and the responsible use of data.
