About the Role (your why)Â Â
The Senior Project Manager role is responsible for planning, organising and technically leading, and controlling complex IT projects from initiation to completion, and be the go-to person for everything involving a project’s organisation, delivery, and timeline. This role demands excellent leadership, communication and project management skills combined with a deep understanding of IT systems and technologies.

What you’ll do  Â
- Defining & confirming project scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Tailoring project methodology to individual projects.
- Ensuring preparation/completion of large projects to appropriate quality standards within time/cost constraints as well as meeting contractual requirements and budget requirements.
- Managing project teams operating on complex/large projects, typically in a complex, multiplatform technical environment.
- Controlling project design and planning activities associated with large, complex applications and infrastructure development projects.
- Coordinating documentation, design, development and testing of enhancements and new development projects.
- Applying quality assurance processes and quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet the required standard. Regularly check the quality of project outputs and identify and address any deviations.
- Controlling project schedules and ensuring that applications programs are delivered within given timeframes, meet user requirements, and are easily maintainable.
- Working with resource management, define, sourcing and managing necessary project resources.
- Providing direction to project team members according to established policies and management guidance.
- Preparing project budgets, attaining necessary approvals in a timely manner and monitoring project financials and the realisation of defined project benefits. Effectively controlling and managing the issues, risks, dependencies and changes in scope associated with IT projects Establishing, managing and reporting on project budget(s), analysing budget variances and recommending appropriate action.
- Exceeding stakeholder expectations through the application of stakeholder management disciplines. Developing and managing vendor contracts / agreements associated with projects under management.
- Handover of projects from the project team to the business-as-usual support team be it within another Datacom service line, the customer themselves and/or a 3rd party.
- Liaising between customers and Datacom service lines to identify opportunities for support delivery improvements, cost reduction and value-add to the customer / clientÂ
- Assessing the impact of changes to project cost, schedule, and scope. Raising variations were appropriate to facilitate these changes. Developing change management plans and facilitate change requests with minimal disruption to project objectives.

What you’ll bring Â
- Broad and deep understanding of technical infrastructure projects and related technology dependencies.
- Demonstrated understanding and implementation of Project Management disciplines. Strong financial management practices with a clear understanding of the relationship between costs, utilisation and project revenue.
- Sound understanding and application of change management and Project Management competencies including scope, time, costs, quality, HR, communications, risk, procurement, and integration.
- Strong understanding of business requirements and technical limitations as determined by the organisation’s enterprise architecture.
- Demonstrable experience in people management and mentoring of project employees. At least 5 years of experience in Information Technology, with at least 5 years in Project Management.
- Proven experience in Customer and Senior Leadership Stakeholder management Experience liaising, and where required, managing 3rd party vendors.
- Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills. Ability to apply analytical skill and conceptual thinking to operations and system planning across a range of technologies.
- Financial literacy to forecast and manage project budgets.
- Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Project.
- Ability to influence and build productive relationships with industry providers and stakeholders. Effective leadership, coordination, motivational, negotiation and dispute resolution skills. Strong understanding of project management principles.
- Ability to translate user needs into a technical solution to build and lead collaborative project teams to achieve organisational goals and objectives.
- Establishes and assures adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer relationship building and management skills.

- Ability to escalate with a solution focus. Financial management, including cost estimation and budget tracking and reporting.
- Ability to manage complex issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Science, Engineering, Economics or a related discipline along with industry certification such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or similar
