We are looking for an Orchard Manager to manage a section of our recently planted macadamia orchards in Maryborough, Queensland. We are seeking someone with a proven understanding of macadamia orchard requirements, a commitment to precision and safety, with strong leadership capabilities.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Operations Manager you will be responsible to:

• Maximise yields through systematic planning, operational efficiency, optimising crop performance, completion of tasks and removal of constraints in conjunction with other roles.
• Assist with the development and monthly review of operational budgets and capital expenditure optimising expenditure where possible and meeting forecasts.
• Oversee farm maintenance and operational activities including but not limited to:

1. Spraying
2. Pruning, fertilising, slashing, and mulching
3. Irrigation
4. Harvesting
5. Farm maintenance and drainage, including continuous improvement of systems.

• Lead and develop workers, managing disciplinary and non-compliance issues as required.
• Act as a role model by demonstrating precise and safe work behaviours and reinforcing policies and procedures.
• Identify training needs of workers.
• Participate in nutrition and irrigation management planning.
• Contribute to the development and improvement of farming systems, safety and environmental processes.
• Manage disciplinary and non-compliance as required.
• Ensure records/forms are maintained for development and operational inputs, maintenance, chemical spraying, fertilising, irrigating, payroll and cost allocation timesheets and safety.

The following criteria are essential to be successful in this position:

• Formal training in horticulture or demonstrated tree crop experience essential.
• Formal training in leadership preferred.
• Experience with MS Office suite, particularly Excel for managing budgets essential.
• Experience managing teams including employees, labour hire and contractors essential.
• Advanced experience and knowledge of land improvement techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

About the opportunity:

Are you an experienced irrigation technician seeking your next opportunity? Rural Funds Management has a full-time opportunity for an experienced irrigation operator to join our irrigation team as a Technician / Leading Hand. As the leading hand, you will work alongside and supervise other team members and enjoy working outdoors, in a friendly and safety conscious team.  

Situated in the Fitzroy Region, near Gogango, Rural Funds Management is operating multiple macadamia orchards in various stages of development. There are presently approx. 600 hectares of macadamias planted with a further 1900 hectares of development planned. Water for the developments comes from multiple pump sites on the Fitzroy River above and below the newly completed Rookwood weir. This water is stored in multiple on orchard storages and then pressurised and supplied to the trees via micro sprinkler installations.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Irrigation Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Liaising with the Irrigation Manager to implement irrigation programs to maximise growth, yield and tree/crop quality

• Maintaining irrigation infrastructure including pumps, filtration systems, motors, automation and delivery systems
• Monitoring water usage via monitoring systems and visual observations
• Maintaining records/forms for water delivery, irrigation maintenance, payroll and cost allocation timesheets and safety

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Irrigation Manager, you will be responsible for:

• Liaising with the Irrigation Manager to understand irrigation and fertigation programs to maximise growth, yield and tree/crop quality
• Delivering water and fertigation requirements to all trees/crops
• Maintaining irrigation infrastructure including pumps, filtration systems, motors, automated and delivery systems
• Monitoring water usage via monitoring systems and visual observations
• Maintaining records/forms for water delivery, irrigation maintenance, payroll and cost allocation timesheets and safety
• Contributing to the development and improvement of irrigation systems and safety processes
• Supervising small teams, including employees, contractors and labour hire personnel
• Contributing to a positive and productive working environment  

• A positive, can-do attitude is essential
• You will be flexible, reliable, and available to work hours which may vary to meet operational demands (with potential for Saturday work and paid overtime)
• You will hold at a minimum a C class drivers’ licence (essential)
• You will hold a Chemical Users Certificate
• You will have experience working on a farming operation, ideally with irrigation and macadamia experience
• You will have experience managing small teams of employees, contractors and labour hire personnel
• You will be willing to undertake training at our cost to obtain relevant qualifications

• An above award base rate, of $30.90/hour plus overtime and penalty rates
• Optional transport available to/from work on a company bus service from designated pick-up locations between Rockhampton and the farms (subject to availability of seats)

• Previous experience working on a farm and operating farm machinery is desirable but not a requirement

About the opportunity:

An opportunity has become available to join our team as a Farm Hand on the Kaiuroo Aggregation located near Dingo in Central Queensland. This property is mixed cattle and broadacre cropping property, which will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their skills in the livestock space as well as the broadacre cropping space.

 This is an ongoing, permanent opportunity and is not suitable for backpackers or candidates seeking short term work.

 Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will assist with:

• Establishing crops including bed preparation, fertilising, sowing and cultivation
• Crop management including herbicide and pesticide application
• Operating broadacre farming plant and equipment including airseeder, precision planter, self-propelled spray unit and other farming equipment
• Maintaining plant and equipment
• General farm duties including fencing and repairs and maintenance
• Meeting work health and safety requirements

• You will be physically fit, with a good level of general fitness to meet the physically demanding requirements of the role
• You will hold a current driver’s licence
• You will be open to ongoing training and development including vocational training
• You will carry out your work as directed in a precise, safe and sensible manner
• You will be flexible and available to work hours which may vary to meet operational demands
• A positive, can-do attitude is essential
• Previous experience working on a broadacre farming operation, and operating machinery will be highly regarded however is not essential for candidates displaying the right attitude

We are looking for a motivated Senior Project Engineer to join our team. Senior Project Engineers at FSC work on infrastructure projects for various clients in the road, rail, tunnelling, utilities and associated sectors.

As a Senior Project Engineer you will schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aimed at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.

You will work with our clients and other FSC team members to plan, deliver, and hand over projects throughout Queensland.

Responsibilities

In general, your responsibilities would include the following:

• Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor assigned engineering projects.
• Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
• Interact daily with clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field.
• Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, project team's performance) and report regularly on project status.
• Assign responsibilities and mentor the project team.
• Cooperate and communicate effectively with Project Manager and other project participants to provide assistance and technical support.
• Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions as required.

You will be a motivated and proactive engineer with the right combination of energy and a commitment to learning. You will bring your perspective and skills to diverse projects, and have ambition to design your own career path.

You will also have:

• A degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 7 years experience delivering civil infrastructure projects.
• Local Queensland and/or TMR experience is preferable.
• An ability to manage project teams to solve problems, drive health and safety culture and produce quality outcomes.
• Strong interpersonal skills to liaise positively with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of innovative client solutions.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards.
• Ability to work with multi-disciplinary projects.
