ROLE:
The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for managing front of house operations in conjunction with, or, in the absence of the Venue Manager. A key part of the role will be to supervise the front of house team and provide assistance, guidance and training to junior team members as identified/required. The Restaurant Manager will ensure that the venue is always presented at the standard set by the Venue Manager. This will be in relation to cleanliness, lighting, music, temperature, staff presentation, and readiness for service. The Restaurant Manager will be able to run any or all section(s) of the dining room as required and be comfortable assisting the bar team as well as taking bookings and hosting the venue. A key part of this will be to monitor lunch and dinner services and maintain the highest standards of customer care. The Restaurant Manager will play an active role in ensuring labour cost targets are achieved in compliance with regulations by evaluating and managing rostering, start and finish times and breaks of team members. The Restaurant Manager will control costs for front of house peripherals such as linen and paper goods by always ensuring efficient ordering and stock management. The Restaurant Manager will raise and, where possible, address any maintenance or safety issues in the venue as they arise to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Play a key role in the management of all front of house operations by providing support to the Venue Manager
• Continually look to identify areas of improvement in the venue’s customer service and the efficiency with which it is run
• Assess staff performance daily and provide constructive feedback to team members
• Provide guidance, mentoring, and training to junior members of staff

They will effectively manage all staff under their supervision ensuring each level has clear guidance and instruction on what is expected of them and understands how to achieve these targets. As part of this the Head Chef will guide, oversee, and actively train all staff in their team to perform their roles and drive growth and development. The Head Chef will be ultimately responsible for all ordering procedures ensuring that produce is of suitable quality, price, and quantity to fit the needs of the venue and adhere to the budget. You will teach in graduate programs and take on administrative roles commensurate with the position. You will be an aspiring leader in industrial engineering research, with ambition to publish in high quality journals and conferences, mentor research students and secure independent grant funding to support a program of research. Active collaboration with other research groups in the School and the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology is encouraged, as is interaction with industry and government agencies.

Your responsibilities will include:

Provide a significant degree of scholarly research initiative and collaboration in the discipline of industrial engineering

Coordinate and conduct lectures and tutorials at postgraduate level, including engagement in teaching innovation and improvement;
Develop and innovate high quality subject materials and project based subject delivery;
Exercise leadership in scholarly research, in conjunction with other colleagues;
You will also have:

PhD in Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
Research interests in lean, smart manufacturing, and/or digital transformation
A track record of quality research as evidenced by research publications in leading journals and conferences commensurate with opportunity
Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research
Experience with undertaking collaborative research projects as part of a team across institutions and/or disciplines especially in the areas of manufacturing and industrial engineering
Evidence of well-established and excellent quality research track record and leadership in industrial engineering and manufacturing
Building an international reputation, evidenced through high-impact peer-reviewed and refereed journals, and invitations to speak at national and international meetings and/or leadership of nationally or internationally significant research projects
