Overview:
The Internal Auditor will be primarily responsible for planning, executing and reporting on all audits. In addition, other structured and ad-hoc administrative responsibilities will be required as part of the role. Frequent travel is required to visit locations in New Zealand and Australia.
Key Accountabilities:
• Plan all details of annual financial and operational reviews of all locations, in accordance with the accepted professional standards.
• Complete all audits as per the approved internal audit plan and determine compliance with company policies and adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
• Prepare and issue Internal Audit reports in a timely manner for each of the cinema reviews conducted, including appropriate management responses.
• Plan and execute annual financial and operational reviews of selected hotels as required. Ensure reviews are in accordance with the accepted professional standards and in line with the approved internal audit plan, in order to determine compliance with company policies and adherence to applicable laws and regulations. Prepare and issue reports for each of these reviews in a timely manner.
• Follow-up on the resolution of any management action plans with the Cinema Operations Department and other Divisional heads (as required) to ensure all significant issues and control deficiencies are resolved on a timely basis.
• Assist in conducting detailed financial and operational reviews of various business units in accordance with the approved internal audit plan, and assist in the preparation and issue of the reports for each of these reviews.
• Review the results and the adequacy of the cinema audits undertaken in Germany by the Internal Auditor. Assist in reporting the results to the Audit & Risk Committee on a quarterly basis.
• Review the adequacy of the domestic and NZ cinema audits and the associated reporting process including the Audit Scorecard. Update these to reflect any changes in the business and/or its policies.
• Assist in the quarterly preparation of the Audit & Risk Committee reports, summarising:
o the current progress of internal audits against the approved plan;
o all internal audits issued during the quarter;
o the significant issues raised for each audit; and
o the status of any outstanding unresolved internal control issues previously raised.
• Liaise with the Village Internal Audit department on a quarterly basis and review the results and the adequacy of the internal audits of the Village managed sites where we are a joint venture partner. Assist in reporting the results to the Audit & Risk Committee on a quarterly basis.
• Progressively update the cinema’s Self Assessment Risk Questionnaires to ensure all additional risks identified during the year are adequately assessed in the questionnaire. In addition this questionnaire needs to be issued annually and any significant control weaknesses identified need to be reported to the Audit & Risk Committee.
• Assist in the annual distribution and collation of results of the Risk Management Questionnaire, and in the provision of a consolidated questionnaire to the Board.
• Assist in the six-monthly distribution and collation of the Director’s Financial Risk Questionnaire, and in the provision of a consolidated questionnaire that is submitted to the Audit & Risk Committee.
• Provide ad hoc assistance to the Group Internal Audit Manager as required.
• Investigate all instances of fraud identified and/or reported, ensuring any internal control weaknesses identified are addressed, and relevant findings are reported to the Audit & Risk Committee.
• Assist in the investigation of any Whistleblowing complaints and allegations as advised by the Company Secretary or the Legal Counsel.
• Maintain an up-to-date audit database recording the results of all domestic and NZ cinema audits, Village Joint Venture audits, and German Cinema audits, as well as maintaining any associated administrative documents.
Skills & Experience:
The successful applicant will be CA/CPA qualified with at least 3 years’ experience working in a commercial environment. Previous experience in the hospitality and/or entertainment sector would be highly regarded.
