The Group Payroll Team works in partnership with all divisions of Nine to comply with all relevant employee legislation and regulations applicable for the Media industry.

As a Payroll Officer of this team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day processing and timely and accurate payment of salary and wages to employees across the employing entities within the Group.  You are the first line of support to employees, and various teams which include People + Culture and  Finance.  Responding to issues in a timely manner is critical in this role to ensure a positive user experience across the Nine Group. 

• High volume manual timesheet award interpretation and data entry.

• Processing large volumes of end-to-end new employee's contracts, terminations and relevant employment changes.

• Processing timely payroll transactions, calculations as well as peer checking relevant pay run.

• Providing exceptional customer service answering general level 2-3 payroll queries including but not limited to awards, policies, superannuation, and taxation.

• Communicating with internal and external stakeholders within SLAs.

• Adhering to all relevant awards/legislative instruments and relevant legislation.

• Preparing timely delivery of employee pay advice, government agency reporting and ad hoc payroll reporting.

• Collation of payroll documentation in line with internal and external audit requirements.

• Undertaking all leave reconciliations i.e., Annual Leave, Long Service Leave and Sick Leave and any other leave as required.

• Maintain employee master data record and conduct regular audits.

• Regular filing and archiving of payroll information.

• Comprehensive knowledge of superannuation, taxation, payroll tax and other payroll legislative requirements.

To perform day-to-day tasks, being able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of our customer’s expectations and execute them with an appropriate sense of urgency, attitude, commitment, and professionalism. You are required to be our customer’s ‘go-to’ person for all their freight forwarding needs.

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join our Television Finance team at Nine. Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager – News and Current Affairs, you will be pivotal in delivering the financial results for Television Finance.

From month-end reporting to forecasting and budgeting, to suggesting efficiencies and understanding the products that are News and Current Affairs, you will play a key role in ensuring the financial health of the individual departments as well as enhancing the finance and business partnership efforts company-wide.

You will:

• Provide month end reporting and analysis for the News and Current Affairs Departments including Today Show, A Current Affair, Today Extra, and Sixty Minutes – liaising with the Executive Producers and Unit Managers for these productions.
• Analyse monthly expenses, variance analysis
• ensuring budget alignment and identifying efficiency opportunities.
• Present to Department Managers / Executive Producers actuals and forecast position to identify any financial concerns, suggest improvements and implement agreed changes on a regular basis.
• Identify areas for improvement & strategies to streamline processes & business requirements within News and Current Affairs.
• Be responsible for the financial statements of the LA & London Bureaus. Provide the month end review of the London and LA Bureau trial balance and communicate, review, advise and process the month end accounts.
• Preparation and/or guidance in the News and Current Affairs staff approval paperwork process, liaising with People and Culture, and ensuring compliance against the relevant award.
• Develop precise annual departmental bottom up budgets, covering all essential costs along with identifying areas of efficiency 
• Build strong relationships with key News and Current Affair genre team members including News Directors, Executive Producers, Unit Managers, and key senior producers.
• Foster a culture of improvement and collaboration within the finance team.
• Ensure strict compliance with control frameworks and adapt to evolving standards.
• Mentor the Management Accountant – News and Current Affairs, providing training and guidance.
• Other duties as reasonably required.

From a business partnering perspective, you will excel in managing internal and external relationships, supporting business partners with accurate financial insights, and effectively communicating financial analysis to senior stakeholders. You will be able to adapt to the differing situations/scenarios that may present to you. Additionally, you'll play a pivotal role in identifying efficiencies within the News & Current Affairs function.
