Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Technician (alternative title: Electrical Engineering Technical Officer) to join our team. This full-time role is offering an exciting opportunity to support electrical engineers and technologists in testing, designing, and maintaining electrical systems. If you have a strong technical/Electrical background and passion for electrical systems, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare Drawings, Plans, and Diagrams: Assist in preparing detailed drawings and diagrams for electrical installations, circuitry, and systems in alignment with technical specifications.
Support in Electrical Installation Design: Assist Electrical Engineers and Technologists in the design and layout of electrical installations, including substations, switchgear, cabling systems, and motor control systems.
Conduct Data Collection and Testing: Collect data, conduct tests on electrical systems and components, perform calculations, graph results, and prepare detailed charts and tabulations for analysis and reporting.
Estimate Costs and Quantities: Estimate materials, costs, and quantities required for electrical projects, providing input to support cost estimation and project planning.
Ensure Compliance with Specifications: Inspect electrical designs and completed systems to ensure compliance with specifications, regulations, and safety standards. Recommend modifications or improvements where necessary.
Assemble, Install, and Test Electrical Systems: Assist in assembling, installing, testing, and calibrating electrical systems and components, ensuring all equipment meets regulatory requirements and safety standards.
Support Electrical Workshop Functions: Contribute to electrical workshop activities such as assembling protection relay systems, metering devices, and other electrical components as part of ongoing production and maintenance work.
Assist in Research and Experimentation: Collaborate with the engineering team in research, testing, and experimentation programs to improve existing designs and develop new solutions.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
At least 1 year of full-time experience in a similar role.
Strong technical knowledge in electrical systems, components, and regulatory compliance.
Ability to conduct complex tests, prepare technical reports, and analyze data.
Familiarity with design and layout of electrical systems in various applications (substations, switchgear, motor controls).
High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and support engineers in all phases of electrical system development.
Salary:
The salary for this role ranges from $74,100 to $85,000 per annum, based on experience, plus superannuation.
