Come and discover the opportunity to join our Engineering team at our Unanderra Manufacturing facility as an Automation Engineer. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and a leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands.
We welcome you to join Australia's most automated tube mill! This brand-new site boasts state-of-the-art robotics, advanced machinery, and modern facilities. In this critical role, you will support our manufacturing business with automation design of equipment and processes and contribute to the delivery of capital maintenance projects and asset development work. Your contribution will enhance automation of our systems and improve our technology, so that we can continue to make and deliver world-class products to our valued customers efficiently.
As we strive to support a sustainable future, you'll play a vital role in manufacturing materials in renewables, infrastructure, and other sectors. Your contribution will fuel the success of nationally significant projects.
What will you do?
Working in a supportive environment, you will contribute to the safety of our people, efficiency of our equipment and the quality of our product. You will achieve this by:
- reviewing performance, availability and breakdowns to identify equipment improvement opportunities
- identify new technology to enhance our manufacturing processes
- assisting in fault detection and rectification and recommend simple and robust solutions
- assisting in the design of equipment, production and manufacturing processes used in making of our products
More about you
Along with your technical skills, you will have experience in applying your analytical skills to address process performance. You will also bring:
- tertiary degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering
- good working knowledge of process control software design and development
- proficiency in automation control systems including Siemens hardware and software applications
- fault finding and root-cause analysis experience
- a commitment to the safety and well-being of yourself and others
- developed communication and influencing skills - building constructive and effective relationships
- the ability to prioritise work and troubleshoot and resolve problems effectively and efficiently with a hands-on approach
