The Role
As a Site Manager, you will oversee commercial construction projects with a focus on creating meaningful and purposeful outdoor spaces for educational establishments, including playgrounds and sensory nature play areas. You will lead a small, dedicated team and work closely with subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standard. This role is hands-on, collaborative, and perfect for someone who loves bringing creative ideas to life through practical execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Manage the end-to-end delivery of construction projects, from brickwork to landscaping and timber structures.
• Team Collaboration: Lead a small site team and subcontractors, fostering a cooperative and positive work environment.
• Client Communication: Act as the key point of contact for clients, including school staff and government bodies, ensuring smooth communication and project alignment.
• Hands-On Execution: Get involved in the practical side of things – from overseeing the work to jumping on the tools and leading from the front.
• Safety and Compliance: Ensure all safety standards are met and maintained throughout the project.
• Tools: Understanding of how to use QR codes, Smartsheets, and Workbench for tracking project progress but comfortable with a paper based processed whilst new technology is being implemented in the coming months.

Qualifications & Skills

• Trade-qualified carpenter or builder with experience in timber structures.
• Hands-on experience in site management, ideally within landscaping or civil construction.
• Skid Steer or Excavator experience required.
• Leadership skills with the ability to manage both teams and multiple projects.
• Great communicator, comfortable liaising with senior project managers and school stakeholders.
• Experience working with children’s play areas is a bonus but not essential.
• Working with Children Card (preferred).

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Maintenance Fitter to join our Operations team at Wangara! Building Components, a division of BlueScope in Australia, manufactures and markets steel building products, solutions, and services through its leading brands, Lysaght and Fielders. 

Perhaps you have recently completed your Mechanical Trade and looking to grow your career or are someone looking for an opportunity to join a well-established business in a Monday - Friday day shift role, this is a fabulous opportunity to work in a growth industry with a friendly and supportive team!  You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of our manufacturing equipment, machinery, and facilities.

You’ll work closely with your team and operations, being responsible for conducting repairs, performing preventive maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime.

This role will be a Monday to Friday day shift (8 hours). Start and finish times can be arranged between 5am and 6pm, providing you with some flexibility across your work week.                                                    

What Will You

Working with lathe and milling machine experience with particular emphasis to ‘rollformer’ machines, you’ll be:

• isolating equipment and performing corrective maintenance on the machines
• diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform repairs or adjustments as needed
• responding to and resolving machine breakdowns with a sense of urgency
• planning and coordinating shutdowns for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance

More About You

Ideally you will have some experience or exposure in a heavy industrial environment, however you will need to have:

• a Mechanical Fitter or Fitter and Turner qualification
• demonstrated experience in the repair and maintenance of manufacturing equipment (machine rebuilds and improvements)
• exposure to maintenance management systems and basic computer skills
• a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing and care for others

We are currently seeking a Full-time Maintenance & Facilities Officer to join our friendly and successful team at Oaks Sunshine Coast Seaforth Resort. This position will be responsible for completing room maintenance for the apartments, as well as managing all common area facilities.
