Kogan People Solutions are working with this well-established, Australian-owned and made, pet food manufacturing business as they work to secure a full time Maintenance Supervisor for their busy site in Sunshine West, Victoria.

Our client’s range of dog food can be found in the fresh food pet fridge in all the major supermarkets Australia-wide.
Location: Sunshine West, VIC
About the role:
You will be responsible for planning, designing, organizing, and overseeing the maintenance of mechanical and process plant and installations of our client’s pet food manufacturing facility. This includes preventive and breakdown maintenance, ensuring the availability of necessary resources, and collaborating on projects to introduce new processes and products. The role is full-time and on-going.
Responsibilities include:
Maintenance:
• Maintenance planning: Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve faults in production equipment efficiently.
• Performance optimization: Enhance the efficiency and reliability of mechanical systems.
• Inspection: Conduct regular inspections of machinery to detect wear, damage, or deterioration.
• Hands on Execution: Regularly take an active role in the execution of routine preventative maintenance to supplement labour shortfall and better understand the mechanical systems, as well as to improve and develop procedures
• Communication: Liaise with production and quality teams to jointly solve problems and sustain uptime and production output
Project Management:
• Project planning: Develop timelines, budgets, and resource requirements for mechanical engineering projects.
• Team coordination: Oversee and coordinate the work of contractors, technicians, and other team members.
• Installation supervision: Supervise the installation of plant systems and equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
• Safety standards: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
• Risk assessment: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with mechanical systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintenance records: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Reporting: Prepare reports on equipment performance, maintenance costs, and downtime.
The successful candidate will have:
• Recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least two years post degree mechanical engineering experience, preferably more.
• Ability to read and create technical drawings.
• Commitment to self-education and improvement.
• Valid driver’s license and Elevated Work Platform (EWP) license.
• Forklift license and/or Restricted Electrical Worker’s license (Class D) would be an advantage.
• You must have unrestricted rights to work full time in Australia.
