Mining Engineer (Open Cut Coal)
We are seeking talented and dedicated Mining Engineer (Open Cut Coal) to join our growing mining engineering team in Brisbane. These roles will provide operational readiness and project studies support to our open cut coal mining clients. These are permanent, full-time roles with a flexible work style including some weekly site travel to Central Queensland.

As a Mining Engineer (Open Cut Coal) you will play a critical role in driving success for our projects.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Completion of weekly and monthly reports.
2. Monitor mining performance against short and mid-term schedules.
3. Assist with developing budgets and forecasts as required.
4. Technical analysis and assessment.
5. Implement designs for pit and dump, rehabilitation, dozer push and water management.
6. Liaise with CHPP regarding coal quality to meet yield and business expectations.
7. Coordinate resourcing requirements to deliver mine plans for studies and life of mine.
8. Mine Planning, Design & Scheduling.
9. Tender submissions and Client Liaisons.
10. Contribute to mining studies – conceptual through to feasibility.
11. Participate in mine operations reviews.
12. Assess opportunities for mining optimisation.
13. Provide inputs into mine cost estimations and financial models.
14. Provide technical support to active mining operations.
Who are you?
The ideal candidate for this role is a skilled and passionate professional wanting to progress their career with a growing global consulting business.
You will have the following skills and experience:
You must have experience in coal mining.
1. Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or similar related degree
2. Minimum 8 years’ experience in open cut coal mining.
3. The ability to communicate complex solutions to a variety of stakeholders, from technical to non-technical.
4. Proven experience in developing dig plans taking into consideration the environmental factors, ground conditions and pit design.
5. Proficiency in the use of various mine design and scheduling software such as Vulcan, Deswik, XPAC, and AutoCAD.
6. Strong organisational, communication and planning skills coupled with positive safety leadership skills and safety behaviour.
7. Proficient in managing mine planning, scheduling, forecasting and budgeting.
8. Experienced in the timely and cost-efficient planning of mining tasks and activities for open cut mining.
9. Operational experience in scheduling and planning, truck and shovel as well as drill and blast would be advantageous.
10. Strong command of the English language in both verbal and written form.
11. Advanced understanding of WHS with advanced knowledge of Safety & Health Management Systems and Principal Hazards
