We are a well-respected Long Day Care Centre based at the Canberra Hospital Garran that offers its employees competitive wages, Professional Development opportunities – including 1 pupil free day and a 2-week break over the Christmas period.
The Company: Woden Valley Child Care Centre is an established Not-for-profit Community Based Centre that is dedicated to actively working with children to build an understanding of their community and culture while making a promise to the land, sky, water, animals and people.
• Our Centre has 2 Pedagogical Leaders that guide the teaching and learning of all its participants. We also have a dedicated Nature Pedagogy Leader who builds understanding with the educators, children and families of the rights and responsibilities we have to our natural world and each other.

The Position: We want to engage with a full-time experienced Team Leader (ECT/Dip) (37.5hr/wk) that demonstrates a willingness to participate holistically in Early Education and Care and works with integrity, wonder and passion. The pay range is negotiable and based on qualification and experience.
• We are open from 6.30am to 6.00pm
• Uniform to be provided
Essential Requirements:
• Hold a Diploma in ECEC or Bachelor’s in Early Childhood degree (or equivalent by ACECQA standards) – will consider someone who is actively working towards these qualifications ONLINE STUDENTS ONLY
• Minimum of 1-2yrs experience as a Team Leader
• Must be able to commit to FULL TIME employment
• Current Working with Vulnerable People Card
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
• A passionate educator who can use constructive criticism as a learning platform for professional growth
• A high understanding of the EYLF and NQS and its applications in planning and programming
• A current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID004)
• Ability to lead a team using a strengths-based approach
Desirable:
• Sound knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture and embedding this in practice
• Active approach to Nature Pedagogy and nature walks/Bush Kindy
Responsibilities:
• Developing a high-quality curriculum and cycle of planning
• Lead and guide a team and children through routines and rituals
• Participate in regular Team Leader and Centre Planning Sessions
• Engage directly with Pedagogical Leaders in program and practice initiatives
• Follow the key directions of Management
• Engage effectively with children and educators
• Be an advocate for children’s care and development
• Come to work dressed appropriately
• Able to be flexible throughout all requirements of the daily routines
• To work independently using your initiative as well as being an effective team player
• Able to demonstrate positive behavior guidance strategies to support children’s mindfulness and wellbeing
• Become a lifelong learner who sees career longevity
• Follow all policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to the care for young children
• Helping with organizing materials and equipment for children's educational and recreational pursuits.
• Overseeing children's conduct and fostering their social growth, planning and executing various activities for children.
• Engaging them through reading and games.
• Overseeing children's participation in recreational endeavors.
• Managing the daily schedule of children.
• Ensuring their hygiene is maintained.
• Offers care and oversight to children within various programs like long day care and occasional care, situated in childcare centers, hospitals, and educational facilities.
