The role of Motor Mechanic is responsible for the full breadth of maintenance, testing and repairs of engines and the mechanical parts of lightweight motor vehicles. The incumbent in the role is expected to operate at a consistently high standard ensuring all mechanical repairs, maintenance and testing of fleet vehicles, tow trucks and customer vehicles is performed effectively and efficiently to adequately meet the needs of our growing business.
Main Duties:
Repair & maintenance of fleet vehicles and tow trucks
*Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations
*Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, and referring to service manuals as needed
*Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers
*Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
*Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
*Reassembling engines and parts after being repaired
Repair & servicing of customer vehicles
*Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles and ensure compliance with pollution regulations

*Diagnosing faults and testing parts with the assistance of computers
*Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
*Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms and other components, and checking parts
*Reassembling engines and parts following repair
Mechanical repairs and testing of smash repair vehicles
*Repairing and replacing defective parts and reassembling mechanical components, following vehicle collisions
*Diagnosing and testing parts with the assistance of computers
*Detecting and diagnosing faults in engines and parts
*Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, suspension systems and other components, and checking parts following vehicle collisions
*Removing, repairing and reassembling engines and parts damaged during front end collisions
*Safety testing and adjusting vehicle mechanical parts after panel beating repair work has been undertaken
Hours of work:
This is a full time role where the incumbent will be expected to work at least 38 hours per week. The shifts required to be worked may vary from time to time.
Qualifications, education, experience and abilities required:
Qualifications/Education
This role requires an AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3). At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
Experience/ Knowledge
Prior experience gained within motor mechanic role would be considered highly advantageous.
Abilities/Attributes
*Demonstrated light vehicle repair, service and maintenance skills including a solid understanding of petrol engines, suspension, transmission, steering and brake systems
*Ability to read and interpret a broad range of vehicle service manuals
*Ability to use computers for the purpose of diagnosing faults and testing vehicle parts
*Ability to work effectively under pressure
*Ability to prioritise workload to ensure customer and management deadlines are met
*Excellent customer service skills including the ability to effectively communicate technical mechanical issues to a broad audience
Remuneration:
$95,000 + superannuation
